You are either misunderstanding or misrepresenting the historical discussion. Quoting your own opinions in your own book is not a valid reference.

Nowhere in that mailing list exchange are they and Hal discussing the term "database" as anything more than a placeholder for "chain of blocks" Later, the term "blockchain" was born to differentiate between a traditional database with replication features.

An acceptable working term at the time for casual discussion was "database", but no part of that word was being used to propose storing bullshit in the "database" (blockchain) by any serious early contributor.
