I don’t think anyone here thinks governments killing millions of people is whatever, those millions of people just aren’t in America, so it doesn’t get the same reaction. Not saying I agree with it. This is also a message, a message to white, Christian men. This war is spiritual, this one’s for all the marbles.
The tragedy isn’t that people care about one death amid global carnage. It’s that we’ve grown so numb to systematic evil that proximity and familiarity have become prerequisites for basic human empathy.

Who are they saying the civil war is against, exactly? The victim’s last sentence was to dismiss gun violence as an issue, surrounded by a mob of right wingers, in a red state, while Republicans control every federal branch. Their logic gets hard to follow.
