Getting fired? Start a gambling addiction as the solution. Lol.

Mandibles.com

🤔 w/e this is supposed to mean. Lol

That’s actually funny. I never visited that site before.

It seems like everything is turning into a gamble now.

Always been that way.

Sure, though many bets used to be safer.

In a former life, I played poker 60 hours per week... So that's always been my bias.

Lol. I could beat poker, but was the sucker at the table in the student loan game.

Personally dodged a bullet on the student loan sham.

So bleak

Dark af

4D Chess

I can’t tell if this is epic af or the most dystopian thing I’ve ever read.

sums up our current timeline pretty well

well put.

i vote dystopian

Has my vote

Hedging from real world calamities through decentralized prediction markets is the most right accelerationist thing I've ever seen.

Gonna check if there are odds for my company doing layoffs in january

I would just stack as many sats as possible until I got laid off

great advice

lmfao

I suppose some of the easy trucking jobs might be automated in the next few years... Such as shuttling a trailer between warehouse A and B, over reasonable highways.

As a driver that hauls live turkey poults, it will be a long while before I need to worry. Too many variables for AI... Gravel and dirt roads, backing to a barn door on uneven terrain in the dark, etc. These ranchers are not going to spend 5-6 figures per barn to install automated docking and maneuvering systems. Not Tyson, nor Butterball, and especially not the smaller farms. 😊

This is going to inevitably lead to better freight rail networks, which are vastly easier to automate. We had it right 100 years ago.

My brother in Christ.

Hi

I just learnt about polymarket recently, it's banned in Australia, and I'm not a fan of gambling in general, but P2P gambling based on predictions on real world events seems interesting.

Prediction markets have been shown as effective means of propagating knowledge.... but that's not all!

They can provide huge monetary incentives for trusted, fact-based journalism, they can effectively replace insurance markets and venture capital... they can even be used as assurance contracts.

People just have to get over "gambling, ick"

I’m sure Australia only bans it so the local gambling monopoly can control the entire market.

Gambling is huge in Australia!

Yep, you can not watch TV or listen to the radio without being bombarded with Sportsbet ads.

Going to call casinos prediction markets

Secondary market on whether or not this guy defaults on mortgage and gets foreclosed

dark humor

I think truck drivers having any concern is a ways out. Definately further out than software.

Only if you leverage 10x so you can go full send

I mean if you’re thoughts are literally “I think they’re going to lay me off…”

🤔

Maybe I should start gambling again afterall.

Betting on yourself getting laid off? who woulda thunk it.

Lowkey genius move. It effectively means you understand your own labor market better than your employer.

I had a shower thought this morning (that I’m sure I’m a year behind on) that computer programming teachers will be laid off soon, since in the coming months anyone - literally Anyone - will be able to AI/Vibe code software, then have any number of other AI’s check and bug-test it. We’ll have software armageddon soon, and us humans only job will be to play-test it to see if we like it.

I update my take to dystopian....

“It’s quite an ethical quagmire, to say nothing of the pure degeneracy of it all. There is so much room for insider trading and manipulation that it boggles the mind."

"Yes, because if there’s anything America needs more of, it’s complex financial instruments that extract wealth from people without actually producing anything tangible in the real world. Our public infrastructure will crumble, but at least we can bet on where Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will honeymoon."

Scene 1:

A calm bitcoiners stacking stats, then enjoying a family meal.

Scence 2:

a neurotic crowd following around commentators, politicans, and CEO's trying to place instant draft king bets on which words are used in their speeches.

Similar to a Ruby broadast in the 5th Element.
