Most people do not want to spend time and effort curating their own feeds. In general, people are lazy and prefer to be spoon-fed algorithmic content. These observations are quite apparent.

However, what if building your own algorithm was as simple as just telling your social app what you want to see?

Now that's a lightbulb moment. 👀

Seems inevitable.

Whoever can do this first, wins all the sats. My sats are in nostr:nprofile1qqsr9cvzwc652r4m83d86ykplrnm9dg5gwdvzzn8ameanlvut35wy3gpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9ekk7um5wgh8qatzqyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2aq38qmrf 🥹

I really think this where these LLMs can make a quick and immediate impact. Seeing it with bankr (albeit, different use case) on X and Farcaster has been exciting.

I think for a fully decentralized platform, this would go a long way in user retention. When I first joined here, I think literally the first content served to me was X-rated. I’m a natively decentralized and knew what the issue was and how to quickly get to work and fix it, but I can def see it being a deal breaker for like 95%+ right now, unless if you’re given a frictionless and quick way to start curating.

Yeah... The Fediverse bridge is both good and bad, more bad.

Where I’m landing on it is that at the protocol level, raw/censorship resistant is best. At the client level, give the user control to turn the knob either way to modulate. For some, it might be a power client that gives you full control to do it. For some, it might an app that basically works out-of-box like Primal does.

Of course, the talk is easy, the GTM and execution is hard part…when a prospective user learns about Nostr, which rabbit hole do you guide them through?

Either way, the centralization model where the value accrual for one’s attention is going to be disrupted (already is?) and will be redirected primarily amongst users.

To follow hundreds of people is unwieldly. The most notion of custom lists makes more sense, this way you can curate your own feed. Unfortunately this isn't standardized or supported well. An AI curated feed is a lazy alternative but a sufficient method to mitigate complexity for most.

First the configurations to buid your algo in-app, see what properties there are and what the algo may be doing. Then add the ai as an easy way to auto set those properties.

People may be lazy but they already have the most addictive algos. The big socials will no doubt add this ai feature too so they need a reason to come to nostr. Trust and transparency is the reason. Even though most won't use it I think they'll like knowing it's there.

How do you curate your own feed? Any tips?
