Sure, but if that's your fear linux alone won't save you. You have to fight for an opensource hardware. Otherwise any chip can have your malicious code inside of it and the OS won't even know.

It's worth if all you want to do is to be free to install your own apps and not pay Apple's 30% tax on everything.
Apple is a shitcoin, fiat company. They want to control everything and force you to only do things their way and to only buy their approved products. I use to do support for them. I will never give them a single cent or sat of my money.
It works but no frills. I tried for 2.5 years. Back on the Apple plantation. Sigh.

Keep thinking Android is no good because "muh Google" while ignoring actual freedom tools.
Keep a cheap taped up normy phone in a Faraday bag in a drawer for the few intrusive apps you can not miss. Like WhatsApp and banking maybe.
For all the other apps there are far superior open source alternatives to use on your beautiful google-free GrapheneOS phone.
I just reinstalled Obtanium on Pixel6a running Graphene, and then Amethyst from yr recent post. Problem is Amethyst still not working. Shows I am following my people, but no names, no feed, nothing... Any ideas? Worked great at the beginning when it was first released, but last few months its unusable.
