You can choose to be unnecessarily offended by this statement, or you can realize that one of the biggest differences of Nostr is the user-centric economic dynamics created by the protocol’s design. The incentives here for users/consumers, artists/creators, businesses, and app developers are different than legacy social media. That’s why so many are here in the first place. Zaps are crucial to nostr’s future. Getting offended just means you’re probably a cheap ass and don’t like feeling called out.

We’re all just in a circle jerk of zaps. I wish we could get our daily active users to grow. We need fresh meat.
Zap art. Creators create the experience, which keeps people around.
Personally, I don’t care what people zap me… it’s all worth more than fiat, and I have my preset zap set to 5 sats which currently worth around .02 phony bucks… so instead of “like”ing something, I might throw the creator my 2 cents of support… but normally if I zap it’s more like 21 or more sats.

Well that’s the fiat cost to send 2… I think strike sends between 1-2 cents depending on the fees at the time… sometimes there is no fee so on my end it shows 2 cents going to the creator
2 cents is 21 sats. So you’re giving Strike 75% of the sats you intend to send to creators when you do this. How does that make sense? Just zap them a higher amount of sats but less frequently.

If nostr's future involves more people then taproot-native USDT zaps. That's what the people want.
If nostr's future doesn't not involve more people then bitcoin zaps are all good.
I agree and disagree at the same time. I was afraid of responding to the earlier note for fear of giving offense. I just value a conversation way way way more than the sats, even though I agree that zapping the main value than can revolutionize both communication and... artistry. Is that the right word? "Content" is a dumb word, but that.
Basically, I'm not interacting with people out of a desire for zaps, but I'll use zapping to encourage people to converse.
