I said job from the perspective of a node operator, I see the miner as my employee. As a node operator with a long time preference that the subsidy of the reward will diminish more and more, then my transaction fee is payment for service rendered. I hired that guy, and he better do his fucking job.

If an invalid block gets mined, them the network will fork away from that block (not accept it). If enough nodes agree with the 'invalid bock' as valid, then the network will fork towards the 'invalid block'. So now we have the law of motion occurring. It's a matter of perspective. The nodes own the network, we the people, us, whatever that is. This was proven in the block size wars.
So, IF we own the network, I'm going to fire that guy if he wants to find out.
