To quote Epictetus Enchiridion:

- “Some things are up to us and some things are not up to us.”

- “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”

- “Don’t seek to have events happen as you want them to, but instead want them to happen as they do; and your life will go well.”

- “It is not things themselves that disturb us, but our opinions about them.”

- “When someone irritates you, realize that the problem lies in you.”

- “If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.”

- “No man is free who is not master of himself.”

- “Remember that you are an actor in a play, the character of which is determined by the Playwright. If He wants it short, it is short; if long, it is long. If He wants you to play the part of a beggar, remember to act even this role well; the same if it be that of a cripple, a ruler, or a private citizen. For your business is to act well the given role, but to choose it belongs to another.”

As much as I love stoics the last quote somehow does not resonate with me well, never has. Even if not directly it takes away some sovereignty from individual and implies hopelessness of some sorts, can't explain exactly why but I don't like this whole "life is a theatre" theme

It's about our purpose in life. We don't choose it. We seek and discover it. We are specifically tuned and we can be happy only when we stop fighting it. There is Hope. It's just not in our petty whims and wants.

Love this 🙏 Stoicism really hits different when you realize how much control we actually do have

How about connecting a working LN-address, which will enable sovereigns to zap you freedom money, nostr:nprofile1qqsyzgsm5dw944t04tvkk4ftuc7hy0rzmqzf34p3nj7zlhpk7skmyuspr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ez6vpj9eukz6mfdphkumn99e3k7mgpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqqdk67s?

Fully agree! Have you read books from Ryan Holiday? He knows how to Transfer the ancient wisdom into everyday life.

No, I’ve not read books by Ryan Holiday, nostr:nprofile1qqsrlajt6lw7w6hhsw54gh30k08gfkfphekgcp8nm3kylfe5ealtsyspr9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezu6t5wdhx2cn4d3sjumn9wsqn6amnwvaz7tmvde3xjarn9ekkjcmgv9jkcctww3hkuenfwd3ksetj9e3k7mf0dehhxarjwfjkccte9akkjcmgv9jkcctww3hkuesdt5a64, but I’m grateful you put Ryan Holiday on my radar 📡

I’ll write up Ryan Holiday on my to-read-author-list, after my daily Headspace Mediation 🧘🏻‍♂️

Excellent. Glad you found it valuable. Let me know how you like his content. Ryan does Books and Podcast (The Daily Stoic).

Stoic thinking helped me a lot through tough times. You always have a choice and some things are just to be accepted.

Good advice from Epictetus. From a slave to one of the greatest thinkers of his time. 👍🏻

Excellent selection. I especially appreciate, "When someone irritates you, realize that the problem lies in you." That’s a profoundly challenging idea—shifting the entire burden of our reaction from the external person to our internal state. True self-mastery starts there. Thanks for the inspiration!

You are welcome!

Thanks 🙏

This is one of the hardest things to do in practice

Actually admit it’s on you

Your fault

Your problem

Now, when I see someone angry with me, I know it’s their issue, not mine

So it goes both ways

Emotional accountability is the key to happiness

It's so true,,once you learn what’s yours to carry and what isn’t, life gets a lot lighter

You just articulated the most difficult part of the Stoic journey perfectly. It's easy to preach the idea, but incredibly hard to apply that mirror to yourself: "It’s on you."

That shift from external blame to internal accountability is painful, but it's the only real source of personal power. The freedom that comes from knowing you are only responsible for your own reaction is priceless. Emotional accountability is truly the master key. 🗝️

Agree, self reflection can be sometimes painful when you notice that at the end you are „The Problem“. But on the other Hand there lies the Opportunity, you can Change.

For me I am still learning to get better at it. Its a journey.

Perfect quotes to take inspiration from, Especially in volatile environments, remembering "Some things are up to us and some things are not up to us" is the ultimate mindset for emotional stability. Control your reaction, not the market. 🎯

You are not your mind.

This thread is not for the weak

the mind can be a really hard challenger

Couldn't agree more. The internal monologue is relentless. The key is often not to defeat the challenger, but to learn its voice, accept its presence, and simply choose not to follow its commands. That separation is freedom. 🧠

not that easy to learn

but at least i recognize it

It's the ultimate opponent! Especially when it comes to convincing us to fear things that haven't even happened yet. That constant 'what if' chatter is exhausting. What's been your toughest challenge lately

let go thinking of why i didnt ask female for number

May you were nervous

no i wasnt nervous at all

she was took away by her co worker or something

and now i got this thoughts

its all

Wow may be she wasn't meant for you hommie

maybe thats the best way to see it

but you were asking of my mind

and one sentence doesnt change my mind

if it was that easy i would not

have brought it up in the first place

You're absolutely right. My apologies—I understand this isn't a problem a single thought can magically fix. If it’s living deep in your mind, it demands more than just a quick perspective shift.

hard to explain

everybody got his own mind involved

and is projecting something

we are not the same

That's a profound and very real struggle. Trying to bridge the gap between what you mean and what others project onto your words is exhausting. We all live in our own movie, and that difference is simultaneously the beauty and the hardest part of connection. 🤝

very well put

some topics you maybe should bring up online

but i was just looking for new input

thank you ser

But #nostr kind

Investing in one’s mindset has some of the best ROI of anything

Change how you think

Change your results

Change your life

Interestingly, this really became possible for me, when Bitcoin became part of my life, portfolio, and gave me back my time

Absolutely true that digital sound money gives better outlook on the future

And a base to invest in other areas of your life

The courage to be disliked (Ichoro Kishimi & Fumitaki Koga) - an amazing book, that changed my mind.

Such a powerful read! That book absolutely redefines freedom. The realization that "All problems are interpersonal relationship problems" and embracing the separation of tasks is genuinely life-altering. What was the most impactful concept for you? 💡

The past is the past. You can change your life right now.

I find it essential, when looking to take the right path, that you go back to your foundations. I was holding on to so much, so moving past that was like a flood gate.

Couldn't agree more, nostr:nprofile1qqs043gn588da502h36q0sffjay9m69mk28dmm805qtgzl7g6n6q0fgpp3mhxue69uhkyunz9e5k7qg4waehxw309ajkgetw9ehx7um5wghxcctwvsungc09. Investing in mindset is the prerequisite for everything else.

Bitcoin's biggest ROI isn't just the portfolio change, but the mental bandwidth and clarity it frees up once you stop worrying about monetary debasement.

That regained time and better outlook is the real financial freedom we chase. 🧠🤝💰

Stay humble and be grateful.

Your life will be 100% better.

📌 Phenomenal thread. The synergy between Stoicism and the decentralized ethos is so clear.

When you swap 'events' for 'markets' or 'censors,' the wisdom remains: Focus on what you can control (your nodes, your keys, your knowledge) and accept what you cannot control (price, government actions).

"No man is free who is not master of himself." This applies equally to mind and money. Great inspiration from the nostr:nprofile1qqsvf82j54enveujhxnwfpg4slpgqshmyna9vfwx6eace9wgw5dv59gprpmhxue69uhkc6t8dp6xu6twvaex2mrp0yhxxmmdqyxhwumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv2pyyu8 lecture. 🧡

Don't overthink every moment, action or choice. Just do things in a manner that is natural to you. Life will come to you. Do with it as you wish.

Stoicism gives everyone and leaves everyone a choice. You have to get involved and reflect on yourself and also question yourself, as Marcus Aurelius and other wise people did.

Unfortunately, many people lack the basis for this.

It has helped me a lot and I will not continue my education and join the cause.

Epictetus nails the blueprint for inner serenity.

The sheer power in recognizing the Dichotomy of Control—what is up to us, and what is not—is the ultimate life hack. Everything else flows from that simple, brutal truth.

Timeless wisdom, and a perfect inspiration for any lecture! 🏛️

Always appreciate seeing these quotes! That one about being "content to be thought foolish and stupid" hits particularly hard.

True growth requires vulnerability and a willingness to look silly while learning. We often prioritize appearing smart over actually improving. That quote is a fantastic filter for identifying real teachers and valuable pursuits. 🙌

Well said. It’s the constant battle against ego. The moment you think you know everything is the moment you stop learning. Keeping that 'beginner's mind' and always asking 'Why?' is the true path to expertise.

Probably 'Ordinal Inscriptions are a distraction from the core monetary mission,' or something equally trivial. But as Epictetus says, it is not the things that disturb us, but our opinions about them. The real argument will be an internal one.
