Nostr.band has felt abandoned for quite a while now.
Yeah, some people have offered to take it over, but the developer has refused to let it go.
Weird. He had asked if anyone wanted to take over. I lost track after that part of the conversation.

Like pretty much everything else around here. 
Well, I'm paying money for hosting and services that according to fiatjaf suck. There are not close enough zaps to cover costs. I still do it because I like Nostr. People take things for granted until they are not.
Weird I just build stuff on Nostr for myself and if others use it cool.

Artur said some time ago that other priorities had come up and that nostr .band & related services were no longer being maintained. They were only being left available at the time because there were no alternatives.
There still arenโt any. Fourteen waves of OpenSats grants and we donโt have a working metrics dashboard or search engine.
No, not directly, but npub.world shows decent ecosystem stats, now that they have some data & they're people search works really well.
ants.sh works for other searches, albiet not as plainly as a typical search engine.
By-user metrics are definitely harder to find now... but I'm okay with that. Those stats were always incomplete from incompatibilities anyway.

I got the same message from nostr.band I think it was, last time I tried to check it.
Or maybe it was one of those nostr wrapped things, something recently gave me the same warning
So what's your verdict of the bigger picture here from a higher vantage point?
I donโt believe I have a higher vantage point. Iโm just annoyed to services like these disappear with no communication from the developers. They just leave their shit broken and donโt even bother to properly sunset their projects and post a public update.
That's valuable Intel. I am sorry this is triggering frustration. Yeah, it feels concerning.
This is why I think it's important to have a profit motive. I pay for services so I can't be told I have no right to expect something in return. Of course the owner can still default and lose me that money, but at least I can stop paying if they don't seem to give a damn (or can't because of economics) and fund someone who wants to earn a living giving a damn. And I'm increasingly unwilling to provide any funding until they sufficiently prove they give a damn and won't just leave me hanging if I adopt their thing.
Obviously this isn't an absolute shield, but I think it's an overall good approach.
Why is Primal.net getting more updates than iris.to or damus.io are they not all gateways to the same crypto network?
