I fully agree with you that we have a discovery problem. We've always had one. I believe it has gotten better though, with follow packs and trending notes. There's a lot of work to be done though regarding interests, algorithms, and WoT.

If you have to constantly explain to people how to use your solution, your solution needs work.

That said, there is a learning curve with technology. I did teach businesses how to use Twitter back in 2008 and 2009.

More work to do.

That's also something people on the recommendation lists like to say. They don't want you seeing any other feed because they might not be on it and then they'd have to make some sort of effort.
