Despite the damage, hope remains strong. Communities are working together, there are glimmers of hope and happiness are emerging.

HURRICANE MELISSA – DAY 3 RELIEF UPDATE
Current Situation:
* Widespread flooding and road damage across Jamaica’s south coast.
* Many areas remain inaccessible, especially Clarendon, St. Thomas, and St. Elizabeth.
* Ongoing efforts by our volunteers to reach isolated communities with food and essential supplies.
Relief Operations:
* Supplies have been purchased locally to support nearby businesses.
* Focused on smaller communities not yet reached by major relief organizations or government aid.
Challenges:
* Several roads remain impassable or washed away.
* Transport by trucks and motorcycles where possible. Some areas require delivery by foot.
* Limited communication in certain rural areas due to power and signal outages, charging stations for devices are urgently needed.

Large parts of my country are complete disaster zones 💔 we are working to put every satoshi to work in the most transparent way possible.
Jamaica is responding quickly, and already several official relief efforts are spun up:
- https://supportjamaica.gov.jm (Jamaica government)
- DART and USRT teams from the US to help find missing ppl
- World Central Kitchen is already on the ground providing food
- Private companies are helping provide supplies and restore connectivity (Starlink, Amazon, etc.)
However there are still gaps in the relief effort that we will continue working to identify and highlight, and put the rapid funding towards.
The main concern today is getting FOOD to displaced residents of the multiple devastated communities on the western and northern parts of the island.
I will continue collecting information and posting updates here and on the btcpayserver relief effort page (http://melissa.islandbitcoin.com) as we get them.
