"CR" for short. Edited "Kicking the Hornet's Nest" (everything Satoshi wrote publicly in chronological order). Made the Nostr Wiki at https://nostrwiki.vercel.app and Nostr bridges: Nostrdon (with Mastodon) & Hostr (with Hive). Home page: https://crrdlx.vercel.app

We hear a lot around here about "sovereignty" and "permissionless", and yet people are reprimanded for things like ordinals and runes. The narrative seems to be that those types of things are not what bitcoin is for. (And who decides that?)

Sovereign means controlling one's self or actions without asking for any permission or freedom to do so. It can also mean freedom to do so wothout scolding. This is the opposite of, "Oh you can do it (because we can't stop you, we would if we could), but we're gonna give you hell if you do it."

Here's another view...

Do what you want, do your thing. If you want to pay ridiculous fees for something on chain, even silly pics that someone else feels is a waste, go for it. As far as their value, you decide. As far as long term ROI, the open market will decide. That's freedom and open systems at work.

My view on ordinals and runes: I like the innovation and excitement surrounding them. Who knows what'll get built out or what'll pop up next?

For #nostr and #bitcoin people, here's a sneak peak at "Kicking the Hornet's Nest" 3rd edition (all of Satoshi's words arranged chronologically, including the recent COPA emails). https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmX3i4qwf264U9zErKGVXYEqdKPBPeCbQxyjqLDb4AE1c7

Printed version coming soon.

Doing some updates and saving files today, I saw this short note I made to myself a few years ago. Gotta take it to heart.

Text: "Be the most positive, constructive, kind, and thankful person that you meet today."

On halving day, I decided to go back to the basics. I made the Satoshi Bitcoin Converter back in 2013 to flip around bitcoin units. So, it now has only BTC and sats showing in USD value. Back then, mBTC and uBTC were a thing. Yes, I know that showing sats/bitcoin in USD is not the point. But, it kinda really is the entire point.

Happy halving day #bitcoin. Is it halving or halvening? Personally, I like halvening as it sounds like a happening (which it is!). However, I think most people have gone with halving. Either way, just a few blocks yet to go to 3.125

I've seen folks say, "'halvening'" isn't even a real word." Oh yeah, yeah, you're right. That really matters with bitcoin. #hodl #fud #fomo

The halving (and consequent Runes) got me to looking back at earlier ways to "write" to the blockchain. I recall "bitcoinstrings" which was a thing years ago. I put "Satoshi symbol below" on chain back in 2015. See https://bitcoinstrings.com/blk00399.txt Also see the spoiler: "Han Solo is killed by his son in Star Wars The Force Awakens"

Yes that's the way. But I meant things not exactly nostr. For instance...

Today was "blooming"

Yesterday was something weird

Day before was "Dan"

Day before that was something else weird

I guess just folks having fun

Am I the only one who understands less than half of what I read or see on #nostr?

Every day is different weird stuff.

I've been around in a "web3" project since 2017 (steem-which-forked-into-hive). The best practice tips there seem to be exactly the same as here on #nostr (though nistr is a baby). The tips are not a secret. They are:

- Help Others

- Network & Engage

- Publish Quality Content

- Start A Project

- Build An App

- Be Consistent

- Be Humble

By comparison, here's what it looks like on Hive: https://hive.blog/@crrdlx

I see. This kind of brings up another question: how do I join communities like digitalarts? I merely stumbled into the nostrudel one. Looking at "communities" there, I don't see others to join or a way to search for one like yours.

This is the type of thing I'd do awrite up about if I can ever figure it out!

And thank you for the zap! Made my day.

Hah! You jest! I fiddle around at times (and that's being kind!) Some stuff I've done: https://nefties.com/pages/stuffimade

I do Stuff for the fun of it. :)

Hello, just a test here. How do communities work on nostr? This seems to be a largely as-yet untapped thing.

Any resources or tutorials on nostr communities?

Just testing here to see what happens and where it pops up.

Going back and looking at old files, I've made some really silly stuff.

You're so right...the sun shines regardless of our situation or perspective, which may, at times, be obscured by clouds. We persevere.

Gotta disagree about darkness being the absence of light though. Darkness is the default, broken only by the presence of light. (Just as cold is the default, distinguished by the presence of heat if its there.)

Still, I love the optimism in this post!

The original "Buy Bitcoin" legal pad up for auction. Love this, hope he gets a nice stack.

Seems like this might be possible, at least it should be. Can this be done now? With BitVM? Is there an interface?

Alice has 1.0 BTC. She wants to give it to her son as inheritance when she passes (or maybe just give it in the future "with a warm hand" before dying). Say her heir is Harry. Harry has his #bitcoin wallet address all ready to receive the inheritance. Alice simply wants that BTC to move to Harry's wallet if and when she dies (or at block number XXXXXX).

How can she make this happen?
