Took a while for spring to arrive in Narnia tho... needed an intervention.
Today I learned that the real danger is the consolidation of all the banks into one ledger, merging with the central bank. This doesn't need a central bank digital currency, and would already give the state total control.
What the digital currency then does is make life easier for the state to maintain that tyranny indefinitely, as the gravity of a whole new financial system would be immense.
Still thinking this through for other countries but makes sense in the context of the good old Federal Reserve. Makes you wonder how different history would have been if the Titanic didn't go down on that 'fateful' day.
