Bitcoin is the separation of money and state, nostr is freedom of speech. https://simplex.chat/contact#/?v=2-7&smp=smp%3A%2F%2FSkIkI6EPd2D63F4xFKfHk7I1UGZVNn6k1QWZ5rcyr6w%3D%40smp9.simplex.im%2FzXclvqxP8A_Bm7W27BEKA3q5unBt3bUt%23%2F%3Fv%3D1-3%26dh%3DMCowBQYDK2VuAyEAo4fgWEhVSARJRv1oTsFOxjtq8isqfQlt-3uC1E37ezc%253D%26srv%3Djssqzccmrcws6bhmn77vgmhfjmhwlyr3u7puw4erkyoosywgl67slqqd.onion

Dies anyone know of a privacy preserving alternative to AWS/Azure that is prepaid with Sats, does not require KYC and offers services like Lambda and EC2? 🤔

How come cdn.satellite.earth pictures do not automatically load inline on Amethyst but only show as clickable links? Anyone else with this problem or a solution? 🤔

Could one not consider Satoshi's coins to also be 'Lost coins' as he is unlikely to ever return and move them?

Massive respect to Obi and Fedi for launching such a giant project out of beta!

I am not certain that matrix really is the best freedom technology for messaging.

If Fedi already relies on nostr identities, it would probably be easiest to message over Nostr like with nostr:nprofile1qqsth7fr42fyvpjl3rzqclvm7cwves8l8l8lqedgevhlfnamvgyg78spz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3qamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wwa5kuegpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqj9swg4 or 0xChat.

And get a readable identifier using NIP5. It would be indistinguishable from the enduser perspective, you could get fault tolerance if every guardian runs a relay so no single matrix server can go down and users could even keep their identity if they leave a federation and move to a new one (just point a new NIP5 to an existing npub)

In case you didn't listen to the podcast I mentioned above: Global Village does not make any decisions on operations of SimpleX or the other projects they fund. They just throw money at small projects that look somewhat promising and hope that in a few years that paid of.

No one is stopping you from running an instance yourself, in fact I run one myself DM me for connection string.

Probably because SimpleX presented a good business model. They said they are woeking on offering dedicated messaging infrastructure for corporate clients. Global Village saw a potential that this business model might work and put some VC money in. Nothing out of the ordinary. Evgeny talks about this in a podcast episode with Seth for Privacy ( https://optoutpod.com/episodes/s3e02-simplexchat/ )

Just back from a long weekend away at an AirBnB in country Victoria where me and the missus put our phones away for 4 days and didn’t go online at all.

Had time to cook; made a beautiful pasta dish with a sauce including some super cheap lions mane mushrooms ($1 for 250g) we picked up on the way and homemade salami, grilled some fantastic scotch fillets from nostr:npub1ulv87e4aqd4wwc97kakn6cpenjvrv6zl8rh396s2ufhns9aanzfs4puzvk and had an incredibly good Sunday roast with made-up sides which turned out really good considering the ingredients we had on hand.

Beachcombing, kangaroos in the yard and absolutely everywhere, wombats, a warm fire, stargazing in perfectly clear skies, watched Saw 1/2/3, got some good pics with our new Instax Mini Evo and the dog had an absolute blast!

Anyway, what’s been happening? Did I miss anything?..

That's the way! A secluded cabin by a lake with no phones to distract you always sounds great to me. Just reading and chilling. Heavy rain at dusk makes it extra cozy.

Yes, perhaps they should have gone to court over it but I doubt the court would have ruled in their favor. All of this proves that their encryption works and they actually do not have a way to bypass it themselves. However it also proves that many people don't think about linking a supposedly anonymous email account with their real name recovery email.

If you don't do that there is no known threat against your data at protonmail.

As I only ever heard that the recovery address is passed on to law enforcement by Proton, I am fine with trusting ProtonMail. Don't set a recovery mail/phone number, use a VPN/Tor and you should be fine.

Unless you can provide an instance where actual mails were handed over to law enforcement.

That's hella expensive if you ask me. Cost for the tamper evident bags and backup cards is no more than 2€ in production.

I feel similarly about other products: Just buy the punch letters on amazon for 30€ and the washers for like 10€ at a hardware store.

Another backup only costs you the extra washers and you can go for two backup locations on some good V4 stainless steel.

Will there be setup instructions for semi tech savvy plebs on how to build a federation themselves and how to deploy guardian nodes, lightning swaps etc? The docs right now don't explain that nearly enough.

A good federation shouldn't be limited by the reputable guardians not being coders or having a day job 😉

This little blue butterfly was magically attracted by our #weedstr scent. He flew around for the duration of the entire joint!

Could also optimistically be interpreted as Joachim Nagel not concerning himself too much with the digital euro because he does not believe it will ever be rolled out widespread.
