i trust myself to use #btc privately but it's not easy, everything must be done just right. most people buy kyc coin from exchanges, use it on-chain in a non-private way and shoot themselves in the foot, exposing themselves and their finances on a permanent record (the blockchain).

bitcoin is awesome but the way most people use it is not "freedom money" or "private". it needs a 2nd layer to be more fungible and private.

tbh it's disturbing how many people hear these buzzwords and get into bitcoin in a non-privacy preserving way. they have no idea how much chain analysis heuristics can reveal about you and your finances.

fiat would would not only be more private, but less dangerous the way most people use #btc.

monero on the other hand is privacy at a protocol level. you get the same privacy guarantees no matter which wallet you use. i recommend most people use monero.

i love bitcoin, and i highly encourage people to study it and learn how to stack it and use it in a private way, but the truth is, it's a privacy nightmare by default.

I would agree to an extent but this is throwing the baby with the bathwater. When u say convenience, do you mean waiting 4 hours to purchase less than $1000 of Bitcoin and then getting cancelled by your counterparty on your first attempt with the site?

The ux on kyc site is a lot better which is why they have more users. Let's not decieve ourselves. Binance p2p is is more intuitive than bisq.

I'm not to worried about the price of non kyc Bitcoin. The experience is what matters and determines if one would use them .

If it is possible to buy from a friend or network by all means. but these sites are not the solution the way they are now.

The main reason people reach for kyc options in my opinion isn't just because of convenience. The ux is just better. Hodlhodl tries here but need to work on ensuring counterparties adherence to stipulated conditions to avoid unnecessary cancellations and precious time wasted

yes, i know. thx. i like tbc and will continue to use them. sometimes it's just smarter to pay with a privacy virtual card with alias info and vpn enabled.

i have been using tbc re: the post. their pre-paid cards and gift cards often do not play nicely with vpn enabled and cannot be used for subscriptions

#satlife experiment is fin. well, not exactly... but #sats are just not there yet for full-time l2 afaic. i won't trade off spending in sats for privacy. #tbc giftcards have issues with vpns, fueling-up on gas with walmart giftcards only is inconvenient, gift cards can't be used for subscriptions etc...

taking a more balanced approach moving forward. cash to #btc, stack in #corn, continue testing lightning, cashu and liquid, use sparrow whirlpool, spend in monero, lightning, pay non-subscription payments with #bitrefill or tbc gift cardss, and keep using privacy(.)com virtual cards for fiat only subscriptions.
