Yeah. Actually after doing it last year I thought it made little difference until I did the calcs. It only felt that way because I’d had an income increase and my inhabitant tax therefore increase significantly. And when you divide the Furusato nozei deduction over 12 months it doesn’t look as effectual. So yeah when I read and deciphered my inhabitant tax slip last month it finally all added up in my head and I became a big fan again. This year I’m going to go all in (up to close to my limit)

But basically you get back nearly all of what you spend. There are some handling fees but that’s only a few thousand yen.

After you do your tax return, assuming you paid ¥F for furusatonozei purchases in 2022, and your income tax rate is T%, it looks like they’ll pay you back T% x F after the tax return (due Q1 2023). The remaining (100%-T%)xF will then start taking effect as an inhabitant tax deduction, distributed over 12 months starting June 2023.

(This example ignores the like 2000yen admin fees I mentioned)

My “Furusato-nouzei” Jalapeños arrived from Akita prefecture! There should be about 30. I’ll pickle half of them and freeze most of the rest until I need them. Worked like a charm last year!

I’m Japan we have to pay inhabitant (municipal and prefectural) taxes, but the government has created this program called “hometown-tax” where you can opt to pay those taxes to specific regions and receive a thank you gift from that region.

So over the year, I will go onto Rakuten.co.jp and order lots of great “furusatonouzei” rural produce at a premium, but all those expenses can be claimed back in the tax return. Such that your inhabitants tax is reduced for the next year. Basically you’re paying money you’d have to anyway, but getting nice goods for free.

Does that mean that transactions recorded in the loser chain are no longer valid?

What happens in the case of a world war where cables are destroyed such that there’s a Bitcoin split brain/partitioning between east and west (for example).

Do the two split networks continue to operate independently with forked chains? And then what about when the cable reconnects?

I don’t know enough about Bitcoin yet to know the answers.

Let me follow that up to say that apart from the rewards profile flagging, the #bravebrowser is INCREDIBLE. #brave works smoothly and does exactly as it advertises. I don't remember what life with ads and trackers was like.

So I've been using #bravebrowser for over 2 years. My rewards profile has gets "flagged" almost monthly and most recently has been flagged for over a month. The reason is not clear to me.

I've contacted support twice with no reply. Pretty bad experience from #brave to be honest.

A trade should just be an agreement between the two parties involved.

The idea of sales tax is ridiculous. Just because you're on the soil of some country, they think they should get something out of every trade. Taxing for land, services and resources I can understand. But just generally imposing a tax on trades/sales seems weird.

Is there more to "sales tax" than I understand.

Like if shops start selling goods for BTC (lightning), should the government be getting something out of it by law?
