Batch lightning channels + shared UTXOs, vaults, non interactive channels and trustless coordination-free mining pools are not marketing terms.
They're the result of what you can do with covenants.
This is open source tech you can go test out yourself, this is not vaporware.
For those that don't know, CTV has been on signet for over 18 months and peer reviewed for over 4 years.
The approach has been extremely conservative as always.
However it is simply at the point now to where we need to think about how to get it activated.
Open source devs sharing information about the code they want implemented / merged is not "schilling". Full stop.

Not that my word as an application dev means much since I'm not a protocol dev, but from what I can tell the main downsides would just be the small complexity increase with new opcodes and the standard unknown unkonwns from deploying something new on a public network.
Bitcoin code is extremely conservative with OP_CTV being relatively few lines of code with years and years of scrutiny put into it.
We'll likely add a few things with OP_CTV such as OP_Vault to make sure there's enough benefits vs risk when the upgrade finally comes.

To be fair inscriptions were already possible before you just had to split them up into multiple parts but still the point is solid. YEARS of testing is required for any bitcoin upgrade.
