Chilling piece on nostr:npub1z7eqn5603ltuxr77w70t3sasep8hyngzr6lxqpa9hfcqjwe9wmdqhw0qhv about the surveillance state. While we may find surveillance technology beneficial when it's used on our adversaries, it can quickly become a tool that's used against us.

writes a great piece on why the 2% inflation target is a myth in today's "economic system requiring perpetual monetary expansion to avoid collapse".

Interesting timing as I just heard about Kagi on the Ungovernable Misfits podcast. Sounds interesting and I’m going to trial it as well.
The consequences of going off the gold standard as explained by Murray Rothbard in, "What Has Government Done to Our Money":
"But whether Treasury or Central Bank, the effect of fiat issue is the same: the monetary standard is now at the mercy of the government, and bank deposits are redeemable simply in government paper".
In other words, our store of value for time and energy spent working is placed in a piece of paper the government can, and does, print.

"The advent of paper money and bank deposits, an economic boon when backed fully by gold or silver, provided the open sesame for government's road to power over money, and thereby over the entire economic system".

In the November 2025 Future of Freedom print edition, Jacob Hornberger makes a compelling argument connecting the massive killings orchestrated by the "national-security establishment" (done in the name of 'national security'), and the regularly occurring mass killings in the U.S.
In 'A Sick Society, Part 1', Hornberger contends the "off-kilter" people among us are subconsciously tuned into something standard Americans choose not to see - "that the U.S. national-security state itself is a mass killer".
Could it be the invasion and killing of innocent human beings in Iraq, Afghanistan, Gaza, and countless other countries, has birthed an evil virus in the psyche of the "off-kilter" people in America? Does the continuous killing of human beings around the globe, brushed off as collateral damage, or as Donald Rumsfeld so elegantly once stated, "stuff happens", dehumanize life, and serve as food for the virus to metastasize? Do we really live in a sick society, and distract ourselves from the cause of the sickness by focusing on the symptoms?
While Hornberger's piece, 'A Sick Society, Part 1', is not available to read online yet, it will be published soon at https://www.fff.org
This should be a great conversation. I’m looking forward to listening!
When the government re-opens will there an opening bell, like they do with the stock market? 🔔
It would be comical to see Trump ring the opening bell. 😂
Great piece by Sheldon Richman!
Envy, Ignorance, Barbarism Triumph in New York
"When the state forces other people to pay for what you want, that’s slavery. Mamdani and his ilk insist on the right to medical care, housing, education, “affordable” groceries, etc. But how can such rights exist? Each of those services must be provided by individuals. Don’t they have the right to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness? If A has a right to B’s labor or the fruits thereof, then B must be A’s slave. I thought good people were against slavery. Did I miss the memo?"
I don't recall where I saw this, but here's a great conversation starter for those who are curious about #bitcoin.

"The bank creates new money out of thin air, and does not, like everyone else, have to acquire money by producing and selling it's services. In short, the bank is already and at all times bankrupt; but its bankruptcy is only revealed when customers get suspicious and precipitate 'bank runs'".
#Bitcoin fixes this.

"People will almost always say, if asked, that they want as much money as they can get! But what they really want is not more unites of money - more gold ounces or 'dollars' - but more effective unites - i.e., greater command of goods and services bought by money".

Great piece by James Bovard in the October edition of The Future of Freedom Foundation's monthly journal.

Just hours away from some fun conversations about what I carved into my pumpkin, and more importantly, why! 😁
#OrangePill

Thanks for the information. I’m going to have to give it a try!
Looks good! A little sour and spice. 😁
What type of pepper did you use?
I turned my pumpkin into an orange pill. 😊
Looking forward to some great conversations about #Bitcoin tomorrow night.

If you think your dollar doesn’t go very far today (you’re right, it doesn’t) just wait and see how many dollars it will take to buy goods and services once the Feds start QE again.
Prepare accordingly for what’s coming.

Great episode by nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 on how we ended up where we are today. The senseless starts to make sense once you listen to this episode.
