I've worked closely for years with Bellingcat investigators – they are eye-wateringly thorough – and decent people. Is there evidence Bellingcat has been shown to censor? That's a legitimate and curious question.

I don't think independent journos are going to break through until someone like Substack can let non wealthy people create a stable of journos they like and give 10 of their work for 10 bucks a month. Idea being Substack brings in 10 or 100 million new low-paying subscribers and they sort their news for $10/month tops. People like you and Glen etc are rare exceptions who can find that audience based on previous hard work. But the 10 journos at 10 bucks model is perfect for 5 up-and-coming journos bundled in with a couple of you and Glens. ok ok, this is starting to sound like subprime mortgage lending, but I think it makes sense to most people who aren't on NY/Silicon Valley wages. (Love your work, god speed)
