Memes have replaced “fine art” as the genuine context based commentary on the state of the world.

Memes are a vastly superior & more thought provoking art form than a banana taped to a canvas or a urinal turned upside down.

I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed by the response I got when I asked about cyberpunk books yesterday, so I'll try a different angle.

I'm looking for books to read for a 2 week hike I'm going on next month, so I want to have enough stored up on my kindle for 1-2 hours of reading every day, plus two transatlantic flights.

So today I'll be talking about #urbanfantasy.

I've just finished reading the Rivers of London

series by Ben Aaronovich, which I thoroughly enjoyed (and, incidentally, started because of a hiking trip through England), and I've kept up with

Last year I read The Quarter Storm by Veronica Henry, and enjoyed it. I should probably pick up the second in the series.

I've also kept up with the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher, and way back when I read some of the Walker Papers novels by C.E. Murphy, and enjoyed that. I should probably try to figure out where I stopped and see if I can read some of the more recent ones.

I also stumbled on a free read on Amazon that was *way* too much romance novel for me. I don't mind sex and romance in them, but I'd rather the story be more than setting for the romance.

Oh, and I read The Witch of Criswell, by John Michael Greer recently, and really enjoyed that, especially because the supernatural elements were well done. Oh, and River Magic by M. A. Phillips, which was also really well done, and I suppose I should read the rest of. Plus I sorta know the author.

So anyway, if anyone's looking for some urban fantasy reading, there's my recent recommendations, and if anyone has any suggestions for me, hit me up.

If you lost the ability to Zap this morning on your favorite iOS client, you can still Zap. You just need to rewind the clock and go back to an earlier time when all Android users Zapped from mobile web clients and the Damus iOS TestFlight was full. That's right, back in December and January, we used to send Zaps (before they were called Zaps) from Nostr web clients!

You probably don't want to enter your NSEC private key into a web client, right? You don't have to do that! I'm not an iOS user, so I could be missing a step here, but I believe you have 2 options available to you.

Option 1) Install Nostore app from the App Store. This app acts as a signing device for Safari, allowing you to do NIP-07 login.

Option 2) Install the Orion Browser from the App Store. This is a new web browser that lets you install extensions like Alby or Nos2x! You can then use one of those extensions to do a NIP-07 login.

Once you have an above option that you're comfortable with, you just need to choose a web client such as snort.social, primal.net, coracle.social, or iris.to.

You can still use Damus. You'll just have a separate client for Zapping.

i.e. While using Damus, you see a great note that needs Zapping. You just long press on the Note in Damus to copy the NoteID. Then, you visit one of the clients I mentioned above and either search or paste in the NoteID to be taken directly to the note. You know what comes next. Sweet, sweet Zaps from your iPhone's new web client.

Woke up before the wife and youngin, watered the plants, put 4 orange mint starts in dirt, now I’m feeding the youngin. Great way to start a day. From here I go grab the big trailer I share with my buddy, grab my wheelbarrow and rake, head to my mother in laws to move some mulch. Just wish it was for building soil instead of making a flower bed pretty.
