Technically, easily done. Itās the actual domain I know nothing about. Iāll keep this requirement in my thinking cap. My approach would be to store private calendar events that could be rendered in the wallet. Could be useful for health appointments. Once I get all the generic infrastructure stuff nailed down, I will be focusing on health.
Just putting this out thereā¦
Iāve convinced myself that it is possible to create a decentralized payment and credential network that can be independent of platforms, using the bitcoin, ecash, nostr protocols.
I also believe itās secure or can be more secure than the existing payment networks because the protocol is cryptographic from the ground up. In building this, Iāve taken great care to use the best from the existing systems and the new stuff like Nostr Wallet Connect which I have extended to deal with the transmission of records. The wallets donāt actually interact with one another, itās all done with encrypted, gift-wrapped messages on relays.
Iām super-excited about the next phase - moving into pilot!

What about creator-punks?
Seriously, I followed this person years ago, then they dropped out of view. I really enjoyed their work and just some recent stuff.
āMoral mobilityā - Iām gonna steal that.

Current hierarchy:
1. Government
2. Business
3. Individual
Should be:
1. Individual
2. Business
3. Government
Centralization is not the issue; lack of optionality is.
At risk of self-shilling, I got some cool stuff going on with #nostr #safebox I would love to chat.
āOne car, one vote.ā seems to be the way local politics is playing out locally.
Plus the principle: āRight to free parking.ā
Two ice-storms and trees falling on my fiber line, convinced me to explore alternative approaches.
I am my own centralization.
Self-custodial Lightning is too hard for normies.
I still donāt understand exactly what KYC-less Lightning is. I think it means standing up your own node, using your own BTC for setting up channels - maybe KYC-less but still surveillable.
In Canada, itās hard to tell the difference between the Liberals and Conservatives now.
Itās definitely big, I can envision an offline Verifiable Credential similar to an OpenPGP DID via a presentation exchange.
https://gnupg.org/ftp/specs/OpenPGP-smart-card-application-3.4.1.pdf
I'm totally familiar with presentation exchange protocols and decided to build everything from the ground up with nostr. Also card security - keeping all of the encryption and logic in the application versus the card actually makes things more secure. I also replicated the things I liked from the tokenized card payment system (Visa, Mastercard). The best thing about nostr is that I did not have to ask for permission to do what I am doing. I just built what I wanted.
There is that risk, the same as any other card you have in your wallet. Basic NFC is dirt-cheap, about $0.25 per tag. There are more secure PIN-protected tags but they are much more expensive. If your card is stolen, the attacker would have to know what to do with, if they even know itās a NFC tag. Plus you can rotate the secret immediately rendering the stolen card useless.
Itās all about tradeoffs - I am focusing on 100% accessibility and 100% inclusion first, then dialing in the security controls as appropriate.
I am always intrigued by the #nostr #safebox ads that ChatGPT generates. I canāt but help think about what the use story might be for this person, wearing the nfc tag like a dog tag.
In this case, it might be someone ready to evacuate on a momentās notice (ballistic missiles, anyone). They might not be able to take their phone with them, or connect to the network. But they might know that there are emergency shelters with satellite uplink, and even if they lost their phone, they could borrow one to pay, or better yet use the nfc card directly for payment and proof.
This is #nostr #safebox

Yeah, I agree. But unfortunately for many, the convenience far outweighs the downside. Iāve been thinking about how I might incorporate biometrics- a digest that I sign with my own private key, when presented can be compared with the digest of an authenticating device.
I am well on my way on developing a generic capability of securely transmitting records between any two #nostr #safebox users. Now that I have Pay with NFC working, I can easily extend that to āProve with NFCā, requesting the presentation of a pre-determined record, such as a badge.
That means, soon, youāll be able to walk around with nothing but a NFC tag that can be a fully functional wallet to: pay, receive payment and prove things.

Sam Altman: We've reached the 'singularity' moment in artificial intelligence
https://www.panewslab.com/en/articles/aky0zce13d27
According to Sam Altman, humanity may have entered the early stages of the "singularity" - the point at which artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence. Altman says humanity has crossed a critical turning point, an "event horizon" that marks the beginning of a new era of digital superintelligence.
Cringe.
#nostrĀ #safeboxĀ - getting to the essentials

Friday, June 20th, 10:42pm ET.
Plan accordingly
#safebox will be one of many apps.
The core capability is the infrastructure underneath, called 'Acorn' - that's what #safebox uses and will be open for other apps to use.
