Hoy le he preguntado a dos graduados de economia porque no hay bancos que simplemente depositen los fondos de sus clientes en la FED/ECB para percibir el interes correspondiente.

Se han quedado perplejos. Nunca se habian hecho esa pregunta. Uno de ellos trabaja en una Big Four haciendo modelos de riesgo para bancos.

Que porcentaje de los grados de economia que enseñan en las universidades creeis que es basura?

I see office/intellectual/white collar workers left and right concerned about ChatGPT eventually taking their jobs away from them.

I'm sitting here thinking about how their jobs are currently protected by a fenced garden that prevents 99% of the population of competing with them for their job position. Half the world doesn't have a bank account, and most of it can't even apply due to government regulations coming from the 19th century.

What will happen when all the world enters the market in equal terms thanks to the financial freedom and openness that Bitcoin brings? Do you think your company will keep paying you $100K per year for pushing a few Excel spreadsheets and PPT decks around when they can hire some argentinian/iranian/nepalese guy who is smarter, nicer and prettier than you and is happy taking $15K for the same job? Professions like translators and graphic designers are already living this reality.

What is your plan, anon? Are you ready to compete in equal terms?

I think it's important to remember that we are a part of the network effect. By using nostr, we make it stronger and more useful. By being bitcoiners, we make it stronger and more useful.

However, if we cloister ourselves too much or for too long, we decrease the positive impact we, as individuals, can have. So, I think it's important that we remember to interact with other parts of the world.

So, when we're out in the world dealing with normies, I think it's important to bring something positive to as many interactions as as we can.

If we bring something positive in small, seemingly unimportant interactions with others, it's more likely that they'll be receptive if they find us talking about nostr or bitcoin or anything else.

If this is true, then we need not, in most cases, try to orange or purple pill people. We just need to be a positive memory, even a small one, when they discover that we are nostr users or bitcoiners.

And, rereading this before I post, I'm not sure if my coffee has taken effect yet. But, hey, I'll post it anyway in case it makes sense to some people.

I get your point. I was trying to say that most of our thoughts are variants and remixes of ideas we have heard before. Culture in general draws very heavily from what came before.

The argument of „no reason to worry because it‘s just a language model that remixes old thoughts“ makes no sense because thats 95% of what we do as humans too. Unless you want to argue that text itself cannot be dangerous.

What’s the most dangerous piece of writing ever produced by humans? Was it wholly original? Or did it draw from something that existed before?

If that is what humans do, where did the old thoughts come from?

In the case of ChapGPT, that is impossible. _ALL_ it can do is regurgitate old thoughts.

You're joking, right? I mean, really? We're not talking about HAL 9000 here. We're talking about an elaborate Markov chain. If you don't ask it a question, it's not doing anything. It's not sitting there and thinking. It's not devising anything. And when it answers a question, it simply steals from what others have written.

Oh, I grant you that the programmers were pretty clever, and that the AI can do some fascinating data manipulations. But not one unique thought will ever cross the output.
