As a fellow Brit I sympathise tremendously. If I may, I would recommend a book called the ominous parralells by Leonard peikoff. Its quite readable and details the philosophical history leading up to Nazi Germany(collective vs the individual, force vs freedom). He then makes a comparison with modern America. Regards
The issue here is voluntary vs non voluntary. To force goodness is a contradiction. I wish to trade with who ever I want (within morality) and I do not wish to support people who I deem as undeserving.

I chose to read the virtue of selfishness first based on how striking the title was. It was only years later that I got into the epistemology because, unfortunately, I had a nominalist weiw of concepts. Its like bitcoin Iwiths I had got more in the past haha!
