I have used beer as a marinade, although I do prefer hard cider. And if you want a super yummy steak marinade 1/3 red wine, worstershire, and soy sauce...throw in onion, garlic, and pepper(and salt if needed)...let marinade for a few hours to over night.

Was thinking things like fresh made pasta and things of that nature....where you just don't get that level of care anymore

Was debating making everything from scratch...no short cuts etc most stuff in my area is corporate junk or mom and pop places that cut corners to make an extra buck. This would be a passion project, not expecting any more than paying the bills
