live simply, yet fully . love deeply . laugh often

Was working on factors that impacts user acquisitions - esp with a minimum, non-existent marketing budget - I think it helps to list out a few things such as targeted user, acquisition cost, ease of acquisition vs expected user adoption. Every group of targeted users has its own way of reaching them. Even narrowing down to as many groups of targeted users helps draw the big picture. I was working on mine and it was easy to spot the high expense / low returns efforts

There has been many first to this year - wrote a book on early stage startups, writing another, building an early-stage accelerator course module, migrating manufacturing, shifting hq - and half the time not a clue on where to begin - just jump and swim - drown, gasp for air, swim. I think when you get used to the startup culture of knowing what you want, having some idea of how to get there, doing everything you can to make it work, but Murphy keep's showing up - where everything that can go wrong, will go wrong - you get into a constant problem solving mode, and things eventually stops shocking the hell out of you. Well most of the time. Some still shocks the living hell out of me. Monday woes.

yea. the goal however is to wash off the dirt that's trapped on your body. Often times it depends on where you are, humidity level, air pollution etc and might be unhygenic to not have a proper shower for a few days. Even tribal folks use plant based lather. There are many soap free cleansers that works well. I know someone who divorced her husband for not taking a shower everyday lol, but if your wife is cool with that that good on you.

i think it helps to have mild soap - perhaps something which has milk base, aloe or even baby wash so that it doesn't strip off too much oil which forces the body to over produce oil hence clogging the pores. Are there other reasons for soap minimalist ?

you're most welcome. its normally advisable to do patch test to see if you agree with the ingredients. Also, essential oil, anti oxidant, vitamins are typically 1%, depending on our skin. stuff like hyaluronic acid is a mixture of the powder 1g + 90% distilled water - same for vitamin C from ascorbic acid. When I started, everything seemed too confusing so i went with the easiest hydration which is glycerine, easiest carrier oil - sweet almond oil and built up from there. On bookmarking notes, I think Pablo has a feature on this on highlighter. All the best!

One of the things I love is mixing my own skincare products - It started as a cost-saving initiative, costing about $50 every 6 months and at most, I’d spend an hour or 2 a month to mix it but the benefits are substantially higher than that - as it's more natural, healthier and you get to customize for sensitive skin.

I'm not an apothecary, but if you love natural skincare products, I’d love to know your skincare mixology.

Here’s some of my mix

Ingredients :

Hydration /humectant : Hyaluronic acid, vegetable glycerine, aloe Vera gel, aloe (real plant)

Carrier oil : Sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, castor oil (Castor oil, coconut oil has high comedogenic properties and can clog pores hence has to be used sparingly. Almond, grapeseed, jojoba has non comedogenic properties )

Essential oils :Ylang ylang, tea tree, neem, prickly pear, cactus oil

Antioxidant :Vitamin C, green tea extract

Vitamins :Vitamin E

Water component :Distilled water or rose water

Gua sha massage - non comedogenic carrier oil

Healthier eyebrow, removal of skin tags, pigments - castor oil

Other stuff such as body scrubs, scalp scrub, face masks often times just comes from the kitchen :

- coffee scrubs with honey,

- sugar scrub with coconut oil / avocado oil,

- face masks with yogurt, aloe and honey as base.

- Hair masks with egg yolk, coconut oil

Stuff off the counters I love are hydration masks and the gold eye masks.

The above might sound like a lot, but it has way less products and chemicals compared to store purchased goods, and a fraction of the money spent.

If you have a natural skincare routine, I would love to know more !

awww sweet Rebecca ❤️ congratulations to you and your lovely wife

What a beautiful ending to #Nostrasia. So much passion and love felt even from far away. Hats off to all of you for making this work, and having a blast while at it ❤️

Newton’s laws are quite an epiphany – even at its raw state, tech has constant or accelerated growth. The irony to this is that in order to have a form of political consensus, you’d like need a revolutionary leader like Peter the Great to bring about tremendous change, bearing in mind there is some form of authoritarianism – then again, when there is any leader of sort even in democracy, there is traces of authoritarianism. Or – the Napolean Bonaparte version – post pain – and a huge anarchist revolution. I’ve been thinking a lot about the latter, and that maybe Bitcoin and Nostr is going to be how everyone takes shelter, safe haven.

I did not know about the IBM punch card tech and the access usage by Nazi. I googled this up, Edwin Black has a book in this "IBM and the Holocaust: The Strategic Alliance between Nazi Germany and America's Most Powerful Corporation. “ (cc Uncle Bob who is doing a lot of historic computer growth reads nostr:npub19mun7qwdyjf7qs3456u8kyxncjn5u2n7klpu4utgy68k4aenzj6synjnft).

But I was fascinated with the fact that Hitler rose from extreme polarisation of democracy during the Weimar Republic times. That and a number of big companies supported Holocaust – Volks, Audi, Allianz, Porsche, Hugo Boss, Siemens, Shell, Deutshe Bank, Associated Press.

If you think about it, there was a time where a large group of people and capitalist industry that thought ethnic cleansing was ok.

Maybe history, like fashion, repeats – just like how the Jews taking shelter back in Russia today like they did about a hundred years ago. Would be interesting to see which way the branch leads – political consensus or aftermath of pain.

After all, physics is deeply rooted in psychology, sounds about apt getting on an enlightenment era version 2. Thanks for the great take.

Here's what nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m learned from being CEO of Twitter:

There were single points of failure.

The #1 single point of failure was Jack himself, leading and making decisions for hundreds of millions of people.

Incentives around revenue.

Twitter felt the most special in the early days, it felt most like a protocol.

Things changed when Twitter took money from VCs.

If Bitcoin existed before Twitter, they would have been able to remove one single point of failure. Nostr fixes this with Zaps.

Regulators were also a single point of failure. A lot of this was exposed in the Twitter files.

We have the tools now to solve these problems.

💜 #nostrasia

You're a great human, Jack. I'm glad to have 🫂 at Nostrica. Keep being amazing. We're so very lucky to have your support here.

Valuable learning and sharing. No one should control people's lives, but because gov'ts are accustomed to it, a centralized social media promoting openness became a significant challenge.

With 70% of Twitter users outside the US, confronting gov'ts globally was rather insane. But Twitter persisted, sending emails like, 'Your gov't requested the removal of this post, but we're keeping it up.' It meant a lot to the people.

However this wasn't a sustainable business model. As a company, Jack had to abide by certain rules within the country. Additionally, the US political parties found loopholes to control Twitter, bypassing Jack.

I think nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m openly discussing this, despite continuous attacks on himself, and advocating for open protocols like Nostr, and enabling people to shape their lives with limited gov't control, is truly impactful.

Twitter was important. It was the public square. To most parts of the world, when gov'ts make dumb policies (which they do often do), people voiced out.

Now, with people dispersed across various social media platforms, their collective voice has weakened, and many gov'ts have become increasingly unreasonable.

At the same time, existing social media have heavy engagement-driven algos that influences people's lives and changes they way people think, behave and react towards each other.

Nostr is a necessity and a privilege, and it will have a significant global impact. But its a big battle, and a long battle.

would have really loved to hear a talk by one of my favourite people here nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac on the impact of design on innovations! #nostrasia

Catching up on so many updates on #nostrasia ! Love this excitement ❤️

18th century bloom of free trade is quite something - the vast usage of paper money, mercantile, colonization, trade. Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations is def great recommendation nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9. Another one I really love from this era is Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds by Charles McKay. Kid's gonna grow up doing amazing things!
