Among all the poster messages people sent, this was my fav one
Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year Derek. Thanks for being awesome !
thank you, that's very kind of you, but am always on a learning curve =) Happy New Year!
and me, you. It surely helps to see challenges as opportunities rather than always seeing it as obstacles to overcome. We may not be that positive all the time, but we do what we can. And after a while, small improvements adds up.
thank you for being there esp when the cops were stressing the shit out of me. There are a few things you can never put a price on, gratitude is one. Happy New Year Daniele! Rock on!
that's a lot of similarities, I'm sorry you went through that and i am so glad you overcame it. We are going to rock 2024!
you totally rock, big brother from another country! Thank you for always bringing out the best out of people. Happy New Year!!
A big shout out to you nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac. Thank you for being this positive force that is a constant here, holding the fort even when things are rough. I always look forward to your notes. You are highly appreciated. WIshing you a very happy New Year to you too !!
This time last year I was pretty down, I had a major surgery and unexpected health issues which took 8 mths to fully recover but I loved how healthy folks on Nostr are and I was so inspired to get better and back onto that 10k walk. I have never been healthier today than I have been for the past few years. Man, so many other crazy things happened this year - did a major expose that had cops in my home, wrote 2 books as a ghost author and 3rd one starts next week, created an accelerator module, migrated manufacturing to a country I know very little about yet it's better than lingering on to what was not working for years. And many more things are planned out for next year that I am both nervous and excited about.
It's the little things that make a big difference on Nostr. It's the people who are genuine and kind. It's the raw passion and love to build that is infectious. It's being able to be comfortable with yourself, and that brings out the best out of you.
The sad part is, we likely won't have the same vibes that we did in 2023, and that tends to happen when the community grows. But even when Nostr becomes this super huge digital freedom universe, it will always have the little tendencies and traces of what it was.
I think Nostr is really special. And it's only going to get better. To devs, creators, designers, entrepreneurs out there, let your imagination flow, try many things, fail, learn, improve, try harder. And keep going.
It . will . get . better!
This girl is checking out for the bday, New Year weekend. Hope youโll have a wonderful New Year wherever in the world you are and see you next year!

i thought it was impressive WD 40 made 39 mistakes before its chef kiss product - and then i learnt James Dyson made 5,127 vacuum prototypes before hitting it off with a bagless vacuum cleaner. Now that's pretty crazy
Life's like a jigsaw puzzle โ every moment leads us to build a piece, and after a while when we look back, it all adds up.
i wanna say - can it get crazier? but i have also learnt everytime i say something like this, it tends to get crazier =)
They are playing Pretty Women on Netflix - perfect ending to the year. This girl is happy now =) I think my fav line was when she said she rescued him right back towards the end. This movie was suppose to be some gruesome movie but they didn't have a budget so it became a lower cost, rom-com. Some last min director came in and flipped it around. And what was produced with a budget of $14 million, exceeded $463 million returns
wow that expensive. logistics is a whole diff painful world. But that's a really expensive logistics cost. who are you sending it through? and how large is your parcel? Are you sending from the US ? Also with UK, their VAT makes export hurt more. And with leather your HScodes will raise all alarm bells. My biggest mistake with logistics what not understanding volumetric cost and thinking fancy packaging rocks lol.

Keep going! although one year from would love to know all your learnings
One of the best entrepreneurship lessons I've read is nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m's initiative during the early days of Square. He listed out 140 reasons why square will not work and their thoughts on it. I applied this for my own and it was one of the most brutally honest moments i had with myself, but it also led to a lot of thoughts and idea generations on what I was going to do about it
If you are working on Nostr, perhaps it might be helpful to list out all the reasons why your client / applications will not work, and what are you going to do about it.
What are some of the silliest mistakes youโve made running a business ? I have soooo many
Once I hired a sweet old man to do my bookkeeping. I had no idea what was the difference between accounting and finance. Neither did I know manufacturing accounts is psycho level. Or that startup is so temperamental and accounts need stability. This sweet old person wasn't cut out to do the job but I did not have the heart to fire him. SO i learned bookkeeping, did his job, paid his salary, did not pay myself and that went on for a year before I had no choice but to let him go. I did buy him a nice ice shaver machine as a farewell gift (We have this ice shaved dessert locally that he loves)
Lessons learnt are quite obvious here. But also, as an entrepreneur, it helps to know what's your cash flow status on a weekly basis or even daily. That and figuring out cal table strategy will up the game if you are on the VC route.
I have a long list of other mistakes. Used to be such a tech snob, so much of a humbling process involved. Used to think hardcore tech speciality means I can't do creative things. Used to think marketing was too fancy and complicated and out of my depth. Used to think finance math was hard. Not knowing the difference between personal branding vs business branding and how to optimize both. Not pivoting fast enough. Not knowing what to do when you have so much advice thrown at you. Not removing emotions out of business. Thinking that everyone knows better than you. Not having confidence. Feeling insecure. Also, I was that person who had โif you build it they would comeโ on my chat status for 2 years - I read this on nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac post and was thinking to myself I was totally that idiot lol. I am still making a lot of mistakes in terms of time management with all the extra jobs i have and that's something I really need to work on.
But my point is, people make mistakes. It's ok to make mistakes. Mistakes are not going to define you as a person. A project failure is not a representation of a personโs failure.
What really makes a difference is understanding what's right and expanding on it, what's wrong and doing something about it. This entrepreneurship journey is a journey on not just the business but also on yourself. It really really shakes things up.
i just thought it was a really bad dad joke thingy to post all in caps. Then i read that nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx became a dad. And it all makes sense now =)
