Can't say that I have - haven't dug that much into any of the 60s assassinations to be honest - but I assume Raul was an FBI agent, grooming Ray to take the fall. Seems like there's always a Raul around when shit like this goes down.

Don't jump to any conclusions, anon, they probably visited the wet market on their lunch break.

Yeah, Australia seems to be the testing ground for a lot of the globalist agenda. As Clive James once said, the problem with Australia is not so much that the population are descended from convicts but that so many are descended from prison guards. The lockdowns in Melbourne were an incredible indicator of just how far this country has fallen and what a lie our rebellious self-image is.

I haven't heard much about CBDCs here, but I know they're looking into it - same with the 15 minute cities stuff. The dole thing is something they only do in remote Aboriginal communities though.

So far, we haven't been locking people up for social media posts (though a few got arrested for trying to organise lockdown protests) like they do in England but there's probably a bunch of other fucked up stuff going on here that I'm overlooking. Australia is desperate to be taken seriously on the world stage so we'll sign up for whatever awful ideas are in fashion. Sadly, the covid response didn't surprise me at all.

One thing people do get wrong about Australia is guns. We don't have a gun culture like America obviously, and it's harder to buy one than it used to be, but there are still plenty of people who own them here. They're a necessity in the outback.

Here in Australia they're talking about requiring KYC to access social media. Obviously it's just paper ID at the moment, but biometrics would be the obvious next step.

Nostr offers an excellent opportunity to circumvent what's coming. I just wish more people around here appreciated the importance of that rather than trying to make it acceptable to normies.

Long live Onyx!

RIP guy whose books I still haven't got around to reading yet. I will one day, I promise.

I see we've moved on from "it'll never happen" to "yeah, it's happening, but it's happening SLOWLY."

Expect a complete collapse by Christmas.

It's always infurtiating to see people show off their reddit-tier understanding of history without taking even a moment to question whether they have the slightest fucking clue what they're talking about.

What do you mean I can't post asinine memes about taking down the world financial system on my Globotech Personal Surveillance Device?!

No, but he allowed his social media platform to be used for the distribution of child pron for years.

People talk like banning Damus is going to backfire, as if people are going to "wake up" and suddenly flock to Nostr. Motherfucker, do you even REMEMBER covid? Nobody is going to wake up. You are a member of a small, niche online community that the powers that be would happily crush and you need to start thinking like that way. The first order of business is to protect what you have. If your app is dependent on the app store for distribution then it's not going to make it - it'll either be neutered or banned. Sorry, but that's just the way it is. You can't take on big tech while using their infrastructure.

The point is merely that decentralised networks need to be taken down - the rationale for the ban doesn't have to make sense. The decision was likely not made by Apple and I suspect Google will remove Amethyst in the next few days.

If I had to take a guess as to who is pushing for this, I'd say it's Musk since Nostr is a free speech version of what he plans to do with Twatter.
