I’m refreshing the Bitcoin Core download page waiting for v30 to get released

I wanna run Bitcoin Core v30, WHERE IS IT?!

From reasonable people, you would expect a reasonable debate discussing pros and cons, especially considering who Nick Szabo is and what he stands for, but from all those I have been pointing out as clowns, we have basically concluded that:

- Nick Szabo has no fucking clue

If you read the cypherpunks mailing lists, you'll also realize that cypherpunks always took the law very seriously, not because they respect it, but because they know they'll have to live with it, and therefore the best survival technique is to avoid encountering it, and if you do encounter it, to ensure that nothing can be proven.

This is a far cry from the attitude:

- I don't give a damn, I am the law.

- I'll put whatever I want on the chain.

What we’re witnessing is a separation between cypherpunks/anarchists and authoritarians/statists.

This conflict has been brewing for many years, since the toxic maximalist meme somehow degenerated into the average Alex Jones supporter stereotype.

Started out with eating steaks and praying to God, then grew into loving monarchies and praising authoritarian politicians who best embody the description of a 19th century monarch.

Meanwhile, the nerds who want Bitcoin to be a neutral, censorship resistant & permissionless network became uncool and were left behind.

So now the radicalized faction is really fighting against its roots, trying to bring down the establishment that taught them everything they know about Bitcoin before the politics got involved.

There’s no way for the two camps to coexist, as their goals & vision are completely opposite. Just like the libertarians left in 2017 to support Bitcoin Cash and Ethereum, the authoritarians will also build their own safe space.

It’s unfortunate, but inevitable at this point.

What exactly? The fallback logic is actually quite naive right now, as it will never retry websockets after falling back to polling. However processes are usually short lived enough that it doesn’t matter

I am pretty sure 50% of the coco-cashu codebase is now subscription and state check logic.

- Whenever the wallet requires updates from the mint it will subscribe for them.

- Coco will batch and debounce subscriptions as much as possible.

- It will re-connect sockets automatically and re-subscribe now stale subscriptions

- If a socket breaks and can not be reconnected it will automatically fallback to polling. The same happens if the environment or the Mint does not support WS.

- In polling automated backoffs are added, proof checks are batched.

- All HTTP communication with the mint is throttled by a token-based system that allows bursts, but will make sure we don't call the mint more than 25 times per minute.

- The throttling logic filters by requested URL, so that non-rate-limited endpoints like /keys or /info don't could towards our threshold.

I really find this to be the most difficult part about building a wallet. I hope this gives us a solid foundation to build up on.

Yet US has one of the highest reoffending rates at 80%. Norway has lowest at 20%, rather than "punish" they rehabilitate. With such vast numbers reoffending it's arguably a national security issue. Taking up the mantle to push prison reform now you are free would be a VERY worthy cause. Ive no idea where libertarian party is on that issue, but inmates also have rights to liberty.
