Thank youuuu for your contributions sir 🫡

LNbits "v1.4 - DNI" released 🥳

This one's a biggie:

* Major frontend overhaul ✅

* Significant backend performance improvements ✅

Named after @dni. LNbits would not be the project it is today without the contributions of this incredible developer.

v1.4 is a MASSIVE achievement, thank you to all the contributors who made this possible 🙏

Representative democracy yes. Foss is an edomocracy/direct-democracy.

Fucking newbs.

We are lucky coming from bitcoin, and understanding pitfalls of something that seemingly makes sense, such as a "foundation". I don't think there has ever been an open protocol that became hardened against centralising forces more than bitcoin. It's a unique experience that equips us well for building something like nostr.

There's already a few nips in the works.

I couldn't agree more. Bitfest was a reboot of the sorts of events that first inspired me to work on bitcoin. No corp/political agendas, cliques or vip nonesense, just peers hanging and exchanging ideas.

It kinda comes from this. Having the stripe payments in the pos is useful as you can do things like sell bits to customers. That went through fine, however when someone bought "buy bitcoin" stamps from the webshop, stripe blacklisted us 🤣. Was first time I had to deal with "permissioned" system for a while, and it felt so odd. First time I zoomed out and look at just how backward flatland is for years. Thank God I live in bitcoinland where things make sense.

It’s so odd that for most jobs, you’re required to have a bank account so your employer can pay your hard-earned money into it, and then, by the bank’s good grace, you’re allowed to access the money you actually earned. While the private bank recklessly mismanages your money and surveils your spending. A weird and recent arrangement dressed up as normal and inevitable.

Fuck banks.

I think that's what I hate, that they think they can hypnotize people to get their way.

I can't, I want to kick them in the balls until they speak normally.

Yes!

There are a few in our industry as well 👀

I hate that stupid soothing voice some ceo types cosplay. Like the mfs are doing some guided meditation, once you notice them do it, you can't stop.

She's also a prolific contributor more generally in bitcoin 🙌

This is the coolest thing! Wow

Well done nostr:nprofile1qqsf4qmhne6ssp2kcetdf4qc6q4y6lkmu2y2970xm545s7v7ey63snqpz9mhxue69uhkymmnw3ezuumgdacz7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t09uqsuamnwvaz7tmwdaejumr0dshs7tcy97 🥳

Did you know Welsh miners would pay literate children to read books and newspapers by candlelight while they worked. Og audiobooks. Partly why those mining communities had intelligentsia despite being down the pit 12hrs per day.

I had a flooded soakaway last week, that required days of digging through slimey stinky mud in the rain, but listening to 100s of Empire podcast I had a great old time.

I kinda think manual laborers will become new intelligentsia, many are plugged in learning in a way I can't do when building stuff on the computer.

Scrum Board extension for LNbits with paid tasks!

It only took me a few hrs to make this extension using the INCREDIBLE new extension builder by nostr:nprofile1qqsvr2s29u8pyywa83rw9pwkffq34jj0y59axu4qapde3a7k6q7fy5gpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz8nhwden5te0dehhxarj94c82c3wwajkcmr0wfjx2u3wdejhgtcru7uxn 🤩 (available in the soon to be released LNbits v1.3)

It is an interesting phenomenon, the hype. Good luck ecash, but to me it seems a beautiful castle of innovation built on extremely shaky assumptions, which would likely void the innovation. A lot of money has been poured into it, so I guess I'm missing something.

I just can't reconcile it making sense, it's like trusting darkmarkets to store your coins. Privacy with a custodial solution is more a bug than a feature. If you want privacy better options exist. Onchain/lightning/ark/nostr/liquid/covenants/swaps 👌. Rest feels like somewhat of a distraction.

Engagement farming? It's the opposite. Speaking against the zeitgeist is hard, especially with no direct benefit to himself. Some pumpy ecash demos on some branch of damus would farm far more followers, if that were his game (would prob bag him a few grants as well). It's just his opinions, props for him being brave enough to share his opinions.

It's just a dumb protocol for sharing data via relays. The nip repo itself would have to be corrupted in order for a fork to happen.

Corps in nostr have to share data with other corps, which makes it much harder to be evil. The power of modern corps and what creates monopoly is the data they silo.

Swiss "generally" don't mind, even bitcoiners, i find it fascinating. Paying tax sucks a lot less when money is spent locally and not on war.

Nostr is as good as the client you access it with.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, those complaints people have about "nostr" are usually client issues, which I simply never have as an Amethyst user. Amethyst really is a phenomenal client 😍

I'm not really saying that, I'm saying the wifi chip in your phone makes sense to leverage in bitchat.

Currently free speech is mostly an illusion afforded to us by State. We must take control back, centralised walled-garden platforms are not the solution.
