Nostr is decentralization content but still running on centralized Domain system

Create voluntary overlay networks and software on top of existing systems. Once the overlays are sufficiently matured, you won't notice when the foundation they were built on top of dissolves or you actively Exit it entirely.

Imagine taking a complicated clay sculpture and sticking little motion-capture-style nodes in it and wrapping wires on those nodes, etc. at first your wire sculpture would be inaccurate and coarse, but if you add more nodes and wires, bringing up the fidelity of your wire overlay, eventually you'd be able to melt the clay out and still have an accurate representation in your wire armature.

This is what we'll do; pemissionlessly and therefore unstoppably.

With things on Nostr as important as apps, it's important to not just have trust, but verifiable authenticity!

That's why I was working on this, it's a place for discovering new cool tools, and also a place where app developers can post their own apps and sign them for authenticity.

You also are able to see which accounts signed to "recommend" the app providing an extra source of WOT.

It's still in early stages, but I want to continue this! And there's no need for Nostr devs to trust this app with their nsecs, as it's all done with signers for security.

With the CloudFlare outage it’s more and more of a sign that running decentralized nodes in our homes is important.

Everyone is so busy posting their selfies, watching reels, and wishing everyone a happy birthday on Facebook they don’t realize how unstable we are with centralized internet.

1/3 of the internet going down is a good thing, it shows how much we relay on centralized entities and screams the need for decentralization. that said, nostr too relies on these entities too much. we can do better.

Originally I stored my raw private keys and UTXOs (on paper, care taken) figuring that was standard. Then bitcoin core stopped supporting them! Other wallets tend only to support them for sweeping, and I wonder how long.

If I were storing funds today I would use BIP39. BIP93 is cool and more general, but not widely supported, and I don't know what support will look like in a decade.
