Announcing Nostria 2.0!
We've been working hard adding new features and improving existing ones. Very grateful for everyone who's been trying out Nostria and providing very valuable feedback. We hope and think many of you are very happy that your input has been added.

If you leave it loading for a few more seconds, it loads just fine? This will appear after 5 seconds, which might be a bit too fast depending on your network connections, etc. It still works, just takes a bit time to load?
Yes and no.
Nostr clients relies on media servers and these can transcode (optimize) your video while you upload, yet it cannot transcode on the fly when streaming, so it cannot optimize to different video sizes.
The challenge of replacing YouTube is a great one, it needs some new innovation for that. So you can upload videos, but usually limited how large files you can upload and user's might spend a lot more bandwidth than is really needed.
Was experimenting, the basspistol setup and the users on it is not conducive to the outbox model which Nostria implements.
It will take a while for there to be massive amount of music events, so anyone could really host a dedicated music relay that every app could aggregate towards.
The question is, where should album art come from? The best is to use playlist as album, where you can organize the songs. It is possible to re-construct the album from track metadata, but it lacks album art through, could take the first track, or combine 4 in a square?
Whenever we post videos, screenshots and announcements, it's already available. We rarely if ever, post anything under development. Enjoy! 🤙
That is the question! When we see if there is some aggregation of music on certain relays, we'll add it to the default configuration under Music so people will discover more. Right now we suggest adding at least the two defaults we've added to find music.
Music is for everywhere! Break free of the Nostr-Cage by downloading your favorite playlists as .m3u8 files and open in your favorite media player. How about WinAmp Classic?

We added the ability to configure relays specifically for music discovery (and streams). Now you can discover more music, without having to add these relays to your own account relays.
Many other improvements have been added, including "Publish Event" for tracks and playlists, giving you the ability to ensure your own (and other's) tracks are available on your own relays. We've seen that tracks are distributed differently depending on the music app you're using, so this is a great way to ensure everyone will discover your music.

Added track replacement! You can now edit existing track and simply drag and drop an updated music file and it will update. It will even ask if you want to delete the existing audio file and the existing album art from your media library, so you don't have to clean it up manually. How great ain't that?
how do find AI generated tracks on Nostria?
I'm building this music portal https://tsunami-three-liart.vercel.app/ and I can only find 70 tracks and Nostria can see 100? Is it due to relays or something else

It's all about the relays yes, that's where the data is stored. I think you have a few issues to work on.
From the front page, if I click nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcqyqt79zylhgqsy8gy3gfl6zappzknrsuryc54gcxzre5ug0agl0j329mv3se profile, it plays the very first song uploaded (Happy Clappy) and nothing else. Opening up his profile, it shows a different song (Invisible Cages).

Photo posts appear under "Media" in multiple Nostr clients. It's a dedicated kind of event that creates a clutter-free environment for anyone to enjoy your media.
To ensure your new image post is visible everywhere, Nostria posts a short form post that embeds your media event.
It was authored to enable "Instagram"-style apps and content creators. It also allows you to create feeds that shows nothing but photos or videos.

No, though Nostria implements two kinds of playlists now, the second is based upon .m3u.
These playlists are currently used to build lists of YouTube music videos, videos, podcasts, etc.
Will add support for downloading a Music playlist in the .m3u format, so it can be exported to other players.
lnbeats is a Podcast client, Nostria has some limited Pocast functionality as well, but no default RSS feeds listed yet. You can paste any RSS feed into the search input and import it to your media queue.
It implements the same protocol, so all content is available in both apps ✌️
It will now inform you and guide you better if you don't already have your blossom media servers configured. Thanks for reporting!
We don't know what nodecast is, could you share?
It is not using nodecast, this is relying on a nostr-native NIP that was authored by nostr:nprofile1qqsph3c2q9yt8uckmgelu0yf7glruudvfluesqn7cuftjpwdynm2gyghcswp5. It doesn't rely on any external APIs or services, which is why it's so good!

We hear you! The "Discover" tab will go away for a different kind of Discover feature. The "For You" will eventually get some love and updated content creators. As soon as the new Discover feature is finished, you'll get the new calendar system.

Yes, it's changed to go directly to the notifications list. We'll leave it like it is for now and reconsider. Changed it to the current behavior from other user's feedback, can't please them all...
Thank you 🥰 Presume you are referring to the notification within the app? Nostria currently sends push notification for new following and new zaps, but unfortunately it doesn't work when the app is installed using the Android package, only as a progressive web app.
Ah yes, that's a number input, so it works with scroll wheel on mouse, etc. What would you like this experience to be like? Change it from number input to be a regular input where you are forced to manually write the number? What about a numeric pad UI? Maybe some warning if the number is very high?
Thanks! This is a bug that has been introduced recently with the "new events" button. When initially opening "Articles", it shows articles. When it loads more, it displays events instead. Good catch, though shouldn't have happened to begin with!
Thanks for feedback! In settings you have two options regarding threads. You can turn off the lines, and you can choose to have the threads collapsed (first level) by default. You expand and collapse the threads by clicking on the lines. If you turn off the auto-expand, it will be more like Jumble and less like Reddit.
The replies is sorted different order on Nostria and Jumble, the latest comments are on the top (for first level), then replies to replies are sorted oldest to newest.

Thank you so much for the suggestion. Implemented it, and with a settings option to default keep it expanded or collapsed. When expand, it will show the whole thread, so you won't have to click so many times.
If you don't show the lines, it will still highlight and allow you to click, as demonstrated in this recording.
It might not be optimal UX for mobile devices like this, will do more testing on phone and consider some changes.

We're happy to announce that Nostria now supports comments! That means you can add comment on events such as playlists, videos, pictures and more.
While this is just one new feature, we have added a lot of new features recently, too many to add here.

Nostria will never display how many is "following" another account. This is a metric that acts as appeal to authority, instead of looking at actual content, words, meanings and how they affect us, improve us and help us.
Anyone can buy bots to boost their "following" or "likes". What we must build is software that makes this issue completely mute. Nostr as a protocol, does allow us to build this.
We should all follow other content creators for their content.
Nostria has a local "algorithm" that decides what you will see, and it is based upon your usage of Nostria. When you interact with someone, it increases the likelihood that you'll be seeing their content again. This happens on your device, not controlled by a secret and hidden centralized algorithm. Our locally run "algorithm", is not there to keep you engaged as much as possible, but help you experience content from the creators that matters to you.
We want your money, nothing else. We want to deliver premium services that make you willing to part with your money.
