It stands as one of the oldest known human habitations in Iran and the surrounding region.
The village is particularly noted for its troglodyte architecture, characterized by residences hewn from the soft rock of the mountainside.
These constructions, composed of stone and mud, are interconnected by a network of underground tunnels and passageways, which serve to enhance both security and accessibility.
The persistent habitation of Maymand over millennia exemplifies the remarkable resilience of its inhabitants. In recognition of its significant cultural and architectural value, Maymand was inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2015.

The Payava Tomb is a decorative rectangular tomb that was transported (KIDNAPPED) from Turkey to England in the 19th century and is one of the most remarkable artifacts of Lycian culture on display in the British Museum. The carvings, which form a unique symbolic message from ancient times, are an important piece of the puzzle of the city of Xanthos and its ruler.
The history of the city of Xanthos dates back to the Greek period and is generally dated to around 375-362 BC. However, some researchers suggest that it was built around 360 BC.
The rare tomb belonged to the ruler of Xanthos, which had a very rich ancient history. Details about the ruler's personality and reign are lost. All that is known is his name - ""Payava"".

In the warm blue waters of the Solomon Islands, an island chain in the South Pacific, lies one of the world’s largest sea creatures.
Roughly the size of two basketball courts, it’s neither a whale nor a giant squid.
It is a single piece of coral.
On Wednesday, a team of researchers and filmmakers exploring the Solomon Islands revealed that they found what they claim is the world’s largest individual coral colony.
The coral, a communal organism comprising millions of animals called polyps, is 34 meters wide and 32 meters long — and so large it can be seen from space.
A typical coral reef is made of many different coral colonies, most of which are genetically distinct, whereas this is just one individual.

Before there were Black opera singers such as Marian Anderson and Leontyne Price, there was a Black woman named, Elizabeth Greenfield, who was considered to be the best singer in the world during her time in the mid 1800's.
She toured and performed everywhere in front of majority White audiences that loved her singing.
However, it was difficult for racist Whites to accept such an angelic and beautiful voice coming from a Black woman.
Her amazing talent and skills earned her the nickname "The Black Swan". She could sing soprano, alto, tenor and even bass. She also taught herself the harp and guitar. Greenfield was praised by Queen Victoria of England, making her the first Black to perform at Buckingham Palace for the royal family

1. Piet Mondriaan is considered a
master of cold abstraction using only
points, lines, and planes. At first, his
works were mainly composed of
landscapes such as trees and rivers
drawn with inspiration from nature,
but over time, his works became
more diverse. It became more
abstract. This work was created on
his path to abstract painting.
2. This painting is a painting of an
apple tree again in the spring of 1912
by an artist who had painted apple
trees several times before. The
influence of Cubism became
stronger, and the screen was divided
into smaller pieces and became more
abstract.
-> The tree branches have changed
into black lines of almost the same
thickness as part of a parabola, and
the lines toward the center and the
ocher color only hint at the original
tree shape. Without the title, it
would be difficult to imagine an
apple tree.
3. Afterwards, Mondrian further
simplified lines and colors and
focused on abstract painting. He put
into practice the claim that “all lines
are organized into vertical and
horizontal lines and all colors

colors and black and white,” and

like “Broadway Boogie Woogie.”
4. When Mondrian worked as a painter,
photography had already become
popular, so he had no choice but to
hand over the “ability to express
things as they are” to the camera.
Because of this, painters had to go
beyond expressing things as they are
and draw something on the canvas,
and due to this need, ‘abstractionism’
became a major trend in art.
