What is the Fibonacci sequence?
The Fibonacci sequence is a famous mathematical sequence where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones.

People claim there are many special properties about the numerical sequence, such as the fact that it is “nature’s secret code” for building perfect structures, like the Great Pyramid at Giza or the iconic seashell that likely graced the cover of your school mathematics textbook.

But much of that is more myth than fact, and the true history of the series is a bit more down-to-earth.

The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two that precede it. Starting at 0 and 1, the first 10 numbers of the sequence look like this: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, and so on forever.

The Fibonacci sequence can be described using a mathematical equation: Xn+2= Xn+1 + Xn.

The first thing to know is that the sequence is not originally Fibonacci's, who in fact never went by that name.

The Italian mathematician who we call Leonardo Fibonacci was born around 1170, and originally known as Leonardo of Pisa, said Keith Devlin, a mathematician at Stanford University.

Only in the 19th century did historians come up with the nickname Fibonacci (roughly meaning, "son of the Bonacci clan") to distinguish the mathematician from another famous Leonardo of Pisa, Devlin said.

Leonardo of Pisa did not actually discover the sequence, said Devlin, who is also the author of "Finding Fibonacci: The Quest to Rediscover the Forgotten Mathematical Genius Who Changed the World," (Princeton University Press, 2017). Ancient Sanskrit texts that used the Hindu-Arabic numeral system first mention it in 200 B.C. predating Leonardo of Pisa by centuries.

The voyage of Pytheas - Navigator, geographer, astronomer, and the first Greek to visit and describe the British Isles and the Atlantic coast of Europe.
Somewhere around 330 BC, Pytheas, an almost unknown Greek merchant, embarked on an amazing journey beyond the known limits of the Mediterranean, to places that existed only in myths and when he returned, the journey and the amazing things that saw were a matter of debate for centuries.
Thiis voyage, he circumnavigated and visited a considerable part of modern-day Great Britain and Ireland.
He was the first known scientific visitor to see and describe the Arctic, polar ice, and the Celtic and Germanic tribes.
He is also the first person on record to describe the midnight sun.
The theoretical existence of some Northern phenomena that he described, such as a frigid zone, and temperate zones where the nights are very short in summer and the sun does not set at the summer solstice, was already known.
Similarly, reports of a country of perpetual snow and darkness (the country of the Hyperboreans) had reached the Mediterranean some centuries before.

Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926)
Claude Monet was the leader of the French Impressionist movement, literally giving the movement its name.

As an inspirational talent and personality, he was crucial in bringing its adherents together. Interested in painting in the open air and capturing natural light, Monet would later bring the technique to one of its most famous pinnacles with his series paintings, in which his observations of the same subject, viewed at various times of the day, were captured in numerous sequences. Masterful as a colorist and as a painter of light and atmosphere, his later work often achieved a remarkable degree of abstraction, and this has recommended him to subsequent generations of abstract painters.
Inspired in part by Édouard Manet, Monet departed from the clear depiction of forms and linear perspective, which were prescribed by the established art of the time, and experimented with loose handling, bold color, and strikingly unconventional compositions. The emphasis in his pictures shifted from representing figures to depicting different qualities of light and atmosphere in each scene.

In his later years, Monet also became increasingly sensitive to the decorative qualities of color and form. He began to apply paint in smaller strokes, building it up in broad fields of color, and exploring the possibilities of a decorative paint surface of harmonies and contrasts of color. The effects that he achieved, particularly in the series paintings of the 1890s, represent a remarkable advance towards abstraction and towards a modern painting focused purely on surface effects.

An inspiration and a leader among the Impressionists, he was crucial in attracting Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Édouard Manet and Camille Pissarro to work alongside each other in and around Paris. He was also important in establishing the exhibition society that would showcase the group's work between 1874 and 1886.

paper cutting technique, but it is
Matisse's representative work that

yearning. In his later years, as his
health deteriorated and his activities
became difficult, the artist produced
many works using colored paper with

published them in a book. These
works are also included in the
collection of works called 'Jazz'.

Sarcophagus; It is known as sarcophagus in ancient Greek.

Sarcophagus is the name given to special coffins (coffins) made of baked clay, stone, wood or marble in which the dead were placed in ancient times.

In the Roman period, two types of sarcophagi were more common, the Pamphylia and Sidemara types.
The lid of the Sidemara type sarcophagi is in the shape of a bed. On it, there is a relief of the deceased, or his/her spouse if any, and on the body, scenes belonging to the deceased, god figures, temple pictures, column and medallion reliefs.

The Two Towers, Bologna Italy
The Bologna Towers are a group of medieval structures in Bologna, Italy. The two most important ones, known as the Two Towers, are a symbol of the city. Both are symbols of Bologna. They were built between 1109-1119 AD.

Although it is claimed that the number of Bologna towers reached 200 in the Middle Ages, very few of them have survived to the present day. The most famous of these towers, known as Due Torri or the twin towers, are Asinelli and Garisenda, and are located not only in the city center of Bologna but also in other municipalities affiliated with Bologna.

It is estimated that at the beginning of 1115, two long-established families living in Bologna had these towers built to show which house was more powerful. Although it is not possible to have a clear idea of which tower belonged to which family since there is not enough documentation from that period, the magnificent view of these twin towers built by the Asinelli and Garisenda families fascinates those who see them.
