‘Tis the season for seed saving from spring/summer and starting for fall in Tejas.
These two books are invaluable for truly sustainable growing!

Nice! Which permaculture books?
Well I’m pretty sure there is a full media blackout of western Maui right now dictated by FEMA. Probably so people just move on and don’t realize how horribly the local and federal government “responded” to this.
Here is an article that talks about some of it. They don’t mention the municipality shutting off water to residents who were using hoses to try to save their houses and firefighters that couldn’t access hydrants anymore.

Interesting. Definitely feels like a split where countries will be choosing between Brics and US/Western Europe in the coming years
Have you read Retro Suburbia by David Holmgren? One of the presenters at a conference highly recommended it today but I haven’t read it yet
Anyone else in Austin going to this today? Bitcoiner meetup focusing on physical security, homesteading, and raising the next generation.
Hopefully see some of y’all there!
For someone without a garden it would make sense to offer removals without chemicals.
I used to destroy their nests under the eaves of my house but then I noticed how often they were feeding on pests in my garden. Now I let them do their thing and they leave me alone (these are mostly paper wasps though- not yellow jackets)

Reminder to the people who still vote, and to the people of Maui.
Inspired by Nate's comments on today's #GoodMorningLiberty show.

One of the best clips of all time.
Doesn’t seem like he intended for any of it to be funny, just the cold hard truth
Yea they seem like good people and employees appear content.
Met the owner and chatted with him for a while. He gave me some delicious melons for the road- we both have similar rigs for road tripping with all the kids and we like collecting rare plants/seeds.
Definitely worth the visit!
This is the #1 thing meditation has helped me with. I can just observe when I want to react to something
Unfortunately I have to head back to CA ☹️. My property in CA hasn't sold yet and I haven't been able to find gainful employment in Ozark county.

So I'm heading back to work at Cavana's. I'm also going to be doing some yard maintenance on my property in the hopes that I can get it to sell more quickly.
I left my home in MO this morning, I'm now in Nebraska at https://www.nrdnet.org/rec-area/smith-creek-recreation-area
Kanaka 🐕 made the 9 hour drive and didn't get carsick once. But he was miserable scrunched in the seat.

Work on that first impression curb appeal even if you have to buy some plants/invest in some hardscaping. Best of luck to you!
Still need to talk to the seed buyer but probably some combination of the borer resistant squashes and melons, greens that can handle the heat of Texas, moringa, late bolting cilantro/lettuce, and hopefully more of the veggies that survived 2 months of Texas heat with zero water (still to be collected)
Also we learn more of the math of certainty (algebra, trig, etc) as opposed to the more useful math of uncertainty (probability, statistics).
Certainty and set answers are easier to teach I guess
We did indeed! Ordered one of everything on the menu and it was all delicious. I can see why you’d live around there- the Ozarks were great to finally visit!
Never seen it. Why would you say it’s worth watching?
Haha we just visited Missouri for the first time last week after a long visit to in-laws in NY.
Would definitely live in southern Missouri over anywhere in NY
Finally made it to Baker Creek after years of buying their seeds and live plants. Really cool operation with lots of sources of revenue and even a pioneer village to lure in non-growers.
We’re probably going to submit some of our best seeds for trialing to them, we’ll see if they make the catalog…
If you’re ever in the Ozarks it’s well worth a visit!

Some road-tripping photos from the Adirondacks
1. The kids enjoying the lake my wife’s family camps at every year
2. Canoeing up the river. Some trees are already changing color
3. Beaver dam that raised the water upstream a good 18-24”. They are amazing engineers
4. Getting a fire started after 2 days of rain always feels good

I’m considering acellus when the kids are a bit older. In the meantime I may subscribe to Noggin for some online content that the kids like that has disappeared elsewhere.
Curious to hear what others are doing/considering for their kids!
