However, the move to make more equitable casting decisions in recent years is a positive one for communities that have been marginalized and exploited to build most of our institutions.
Representation is an important tool we can use to affirm the humanity of those we’ve historically dehumanized. Maybe that makes me “woke”. That term was stolen from the struggle of the black community and is now used to belittle any effort to grant them full access to full personhood. Maybe you are a member of that community. I don’t know. I’m not.
The disgust you expressed about skin color specifically lead me to feel like maybe this was punching down though.

PSA: The term “retarded” is considered a slur — it has been used to marginalize and dehumanize people with intellectual disabilities.

Your speech is free — no one can or should take that away from you. However, that doesn’t mean it is without consequences. All men are victims of the violence your “masculinity” demands of boys, first to themselves and then to others. It is our job to heal now, sir. This is not the way.
It is a fragile strength that needs to threaten or demean others in order to feel secure. We can do better, and we must. Else we are no better than the fascist contraptions we seek to dismantle.
In my experience, the attitudes toward christians shifts heavily by which region of the country you are in and which denomination/sect you are considering.
The southeastern states are often referred to as the “bible belt” as shorthand for how entrenched the christian church is in every facet of public life. Outside of major cities, it can be difficult to navigate employment, social participation, political engagement, or even banking for people who are overtly non-conservative or non-christian.
Yes, it is not this bad in many cases, however it leads me to suspect that the sum of the small instances of prejudice add up to a structural disadvantage for atheist or agnostic individuals in many parts of the country.
i.e. I DON’T see much feature development around it.
Given some the notes circulating about decentralization and spam mitigation, I wonder where we ever landed with NIP-13.
Seemingly it was designed to provide, at least, a partial solution to the least expensive spam threats. But I see much feature development happening around it.
Is the general sentiment that it fails to address its own problem statement? Or is has it just not been worth the effort to implement just yet?
