It’s my birthday week, my gift to you, a four song album that I’ve been laboring over for months. It’s a concept album chronicling the journey of a good kids road out of an unstable home and into the foster care system. We played a show with Bong Mountain a while ago and I got to say the best joke I've ever had on stage. As we got ready to start I said, "Let's give it up for Bong Mountain? What a stupid band name... We're Monkey Robot War." One guy went "HA!" and thats the beginning and end of my standup career.

Anyway, the drummer and bassist of Bong Mountain came over one Saturday as well as my co-writer Justin and we wrote this song. Not polished up, but we decided it's better that way.

One of the kids dated this peculiar kid for a couple weeks. I was showing him around the studio and he asked for a notepad and he started feverishly writing down the “parts” of a song. He was broken up with in a week, but I found the notebook and tried to write the song he had written down. The only lyric he had was “back road.”

Art makes everything better.

It’s really coming together out there. We shot a live performance video in there last week, can’t wait to show everyone.

It’s my favorite place to be. I went through a lot of basements and garages to get here. But the slog makes me really appreciate it.

Spent the day figuring out how to use every bit of gear I’ve collected over the past decade. So unnecessary, but so awesome.
