I'm not American and my choice of leaders is far from perfect or even good, but if I were American I would be very embarrassed that those are my two options.

I mean, we all knew this was going to happen though, right?

At least for Canadians like me, because our dollar has weakened against USD since the last ATH, we shot well passed the previous ATH in CDN terms a few days ago.

I think we all predicted a dip when we hit the ATH.

The good news for Canadians like me is because our dollar is shit we've already shot well passed ATH in CDN terms.

Many people have a minor celebration in their head when they see that their vehicle odometer has rolled over to 100,000 or 200,000 miles or km (depending on where you are of course).

Bitcoiners have the same thing when their stack has a significant decimal that rolls over to the next digit.

To coopt that (kind of dumb) expression: if they don't love you in the bear market they don't deserve you in the bull market.

Exactly right Jack. I can see both sides with respect to whether those platforms could be deemed a common carrier or a publisher that can editorialize as per their ToS.

Having said that, the only true way to resolve this problem is to have a service that is decentralized. This is why Nostr exists.

As an outsider (Canadian), I find it weird how some Americans have such a strong sense of patriotism connected to their currency. Don't get me wrong, the US is a great country and I love visiting, and Americans are justified in being patriotic in general. It's just odd to conflate love for one's country with love for the paper used to exchange for goods and services.

As for Trump, I doubt he actually truly cares that much; he happily owns assets in other countries (eg golf course in Scotland). In my mind he's largely paying lip service to the dollar to score cheap political points.

I love There I Ruined It. Some really good ones. The Whitney Houston and Celine Dion ones singing in all 12 keys is hilarious but demonic sounding. The "You Can't Handle The Truth" sung to the tune of Toy Story is great, but I think my favorite is the Jurassic Park Deleted Scene.

😂

Not going to lie, I have an extra pair of underwear in my desk drawer at work in case I "gamble and lose" on a fart.

I think there's nuance. I play video games, typically a few hours on a Sunday afternoon and maybe say 2 hours the rest of the week. I'm in my 40s with a habit and a well paying full time job. For me video games is one way I like to way of unwind. There's lots of people in this world that play video games to excess and at the expense of other productive things. This is definitely a problem, as with any leisure activity overdone. I think it's unreasonable to think that healthy behavior involves constant hustle, bustle, and building. Life is indeed short and it gets a lot shorter when you're constantly go go go and you burn yourself out and have a heart attack in your early 40s because you never took in any R&R.

Personally, I can think of plenty of other ways to unwind that are far worse for body and mind.

Well said. The overwhelming majority of what me and my family eat is made from scratch, and we generally involve our kids in the process so they develop these healthy habits. There are of course occasional exceptions where we buy something premade or get takeout on a busy night, but these happen maybe only once or twice a month.

One barrier I see that people have is that cooking can be somewhat overwhelming when it comes to coming up with what to eat when they get home from work - we've been doing weekly meal planning for years. This not only helps to save on groceries because we only but what we need as opposed to buying things via a shotgun approach, but it also prevents the early evening panic attack of not knowing what to make for dinner. I think much of the popularity of these food delivery services is that they essentially do the planning for you, but this is certainly something people can do on their own.

Another fun side thing we do is every week, the kids each pick a country on the globe and we make something from there. This adds a bit of fun and variety.

Dude claims to be doing 6 or 8 or 10 PhDs (or whatever number he claims this week), and doesn't understand a basic concept students learn in like week 2 of a digital electronics or programming class students take in first year of uni.
