The global independent music community stands at a crossroads. At a minimum, conferences and meetups should cover artists’ costs. But we must also honor their work with real value, not just empty “opportunities” to headline the after-party.
Imagine the snowball effect if 7 Million artists could now make a living through 1000 true fans rather than chasing millions of likes 👍🏻 and love ❤️
When we compensate artists fairly, we don’t just fill a stage, we build a movement that the entire world wants to join.
Exposure is not enough. Conferences and meet ups should be negotiating directly with artists. New platforms should not be considered defacto middlemen making choices for or on behalf of artists.
If we want 7 million artists to bring their energy, talent, and vision into the Bitcoin ecosystem, let’s greet them with enthusiasm. Let’s show them that Bitcoin is the great equalizer, where artists are valued, not exploited.
This is how we create a cultural renaissance. This is how we prove that Bitcoin is for everyone. The future is waiting. Will we rise to meet it?

I would add that we have two distribution points that both claim to be open source and don’t work together. In my heart I think this is a publishing problem. If a musician distributes to distrokid, it goes to 66+ platforms. If we distribute to V4V it should go to any protocol and the artist controls the publishing rights and payment splits. Same idea, distribute once it goes anywhere and money comes back to artist publisher account.
I have had this concern from very early on.

But so does RSS, and the two are not compatible with each other which puts the artist in the middle needing to learn to manage both or pick a side.
