Likes are the middle ground.
Public record that that shows enthusiasm and *may* also mean a tip was sent in secret.

Still doing it, cause you're doing great work and making some good points.
But not as zaps.
Funny because true tho :)
> ...with many relays to poll
Maybe that's the root problem?
Might make sense to reduce the # of relays to the absolute minimum before firing queries away. In some circles this is called the gossip model.
Nah, that's lazy thinking. Don't let it infect you bro.
Some relays already offer that as a service, but IMO there are still many open qustions around how to do it right.
A simple step to take is to try out clients with local follow lists, like Gossip.
Another idea is to send LN tips instead of zaps: #[0]
Sure, if the goal is to roll out the red carpet to scammers who'll wash-zap like there's no tomorrow
I just tipped it by just clicking the like button.
My bot sent the sats.

Why complicate life with "zaps"? Dunno, I like to keep it simple.
Oak Node v0.3.5 is now live in the Umbrel AppStore!
Lots of Nostr goodies, including:
- Shadowy LN Tips: the bot will send LN tips for every note you "like", directly from your Umbrel LN wallet to the note author's LN Address
- NIP-65 support, to make sure the bot listens to your commands on the right relays, even as you change them
- auto-reconnects to relays, npub support and more
The main focus was to provide a viable alternative to zaps that is simple, private, non-custodial, and works with every Nostr client.
Why publicize who you're sending sats to, how many, and when?
You can have your bot send "Shadowy LN Tips" to the profiles you want, for the notes you want, by just clicking the like button from your fav Nostr client. Your bot, running on Umbrel, will pick that up and send the sats.
No vanity zap counter, no privacy leaks on nostr.
#[0] could this be a service WoS can provide?
Recurring outbound payments. Set destination, amount, memo. Done.
A basic feature that any banking app already has.
Likely huge demand, especially from service providers (who like recurring inbound payments).
Working on smth similar using current BOLT11.
Basically a way for a service provider to check if a pubkey (account) is entitled to a service or not, based on (pre-paid / already settled) LN payments.
💯
One reason I like the Gossip client is it supports local follow lists. Better privacy + no risk of having other clients overwrite it, which looks like a common issue.
