Lost gamer/techno-psycho in distress from the laws on the birds. Never forget.

It provides a metric of their opinions.

Or do you mean this in a sense where advertising is already the status quo? What are we worried about on nostr? Relays being ad supported?

I consider any communication with what I write some amount of value. Even if it isn't monetary.

Their purpose is what we decide it is.

Marketing can monitize any interaction. And our interactions are public.

Comment, like, zap, it's all useable marketing data points.

I understand fearing an adverisement takeover, but we also need to communicate. And any communication is a data point.

Likes arent the problem, it's people's willingness to put up with ads.

We all need to encourage everyone to shun and block ads, not attack various forms of communications because marketing agencies will use them for evil.

I mean, the whole "Trump is a racist" thing was crazy back in 2016. I remember having a discussion with someone on g+ about that.

Dude's biggest evidence was heresay from an excutive he fired.

Meanwhile Hillary was being openly racist towards a native American polition.

Gosh I wish I had that video clip, at this point, all I have is heresay ><

I hop on every other month or so. I like the reddit alternative idea, but due to federation it's hard to use.

I think I'm connected via lemm.ee as they were the least insane a couple years back.

Federation is doomed from the start.

Yea, it kinda worked for bbs, but that's before non-technical users gained control of the tech.

There's too much delay for today's world and the way blocking works destroies communication.

Federation was never the answer. We didn't need more, albiet smaller, centers of power, we need there to be no center of power what-so-ever.

I figure likes are like a head nod or a laugh.

If I have nothing meaningful to contribute, but want to acknowledge something, a like works well. And perhaps even a zap.

Also keeps the conversation space clean.
