A lot of people in the Silicon Valley tech community and similar tech communities have historically been drawn to newer blockchains because their perception of technology involves rapid change and disruption. Thus many of them implicitly assume that older (eg. Bitcoin) is being and/or will be disrupted by newer.

In my experience, a good way to circumvent that is to remind them of communication protocols. Things like Internet Protocol, Ethernet, SMTP, USB, and others tend to have very long lifetimes once they reach dominance. That combo of simplicity and network effects lasts a long time and pushes most rapid change to the edges or higher layers, and that the underlying foundation moves more slowly.

That seems to effectively recategorize it in their perceptions with a decent success rate.

Yes, it is a good idea. But where is that comparison to be made? I wrote many explanations of what Nostr is in many places of the internet, and many other people also did pretty good ones. Is anyone reading them? Apparently not. There are many videos and interviews published in many places that explain what Nostr is in a very compelling and correct way. Who is watching them?

About automatic silent app updates:

Which OSS app store has them? In theory I see Obtainium and Accrescent do.

However with Obtainium I've always been prompted to Update. Sure, updates were downloaded in the background but user action was required.

Can't speak for Accrescent as I have not used it.

Also, in several code tests I could not make it work despite having the right permissions (UPDATE_PACKAGES_WITHOUT_USER_ACTION) and being Android 12+.

I would appreciate feedback on this issue as I'm not even sure it's possible.

Yes the market is the upside.

The downsides are:

-death to business by regulations

-self-implosion of competitiveness due to shutting down of reliable, cheap, and safe fossil fuel energy and nuclear plants

-increase in family energy poverty due to same reason above

-capital misallocation by central planners

-warmonger bureaucrats whose spending and political decisions impoverish normal European families

-authoritarianism in shutting down democratic elections, or preventing elections on key issues

-unpopular mass immigration policies of a great deal of people who do not assimilate in Europe.

At this time, the UK does not seem to be taking any different decisions than the EU. If anything, UK might be worse on many of the above points.

Although it is possible that the UK could take different decisions, as they salvaged greater independence from Brussels.
