Someone asked me "What does #BTC mean to you?"
That got me thinking...
My "short" answer:
A global Bitcoin Standard is the opportunity to finally align the individual's incentives with what's good for humanity.
My "long" answer:
When war and destruction in one part of the world can be used to stimulate "economic growth" and "prosperity" in another part of the world, clearly the individual's incentives and what is good for humanity are misaligned.
If you read between the lines of ancient history, Gold incentivised conqurers to brutalize the rest of humanity for personal gain.
If you read between the lines of modern history, Fiat Currency incentivises governments to impoverish their citizens through taxation and debasement, to sustain itself and grow non-stop.
Fiat incentivises exploitation over cooperation.
Fiat prioritizes short term gains over long term solutions.
Our "fiat money" is broken, so our governments, central banks, commercial banks, private banks, payment processors, corporations, etc are all tainted and used by "privileged" individuals to extract value from the rest of humanity.
#Bitcoin fixes this, because it's cooperative and additive...
When you run a Bitcoin Node, you are working on behalf of all Bitcoiners by maintaining a copy of the truth and resisting changes to the code.
When you run an ASIC miner, you are working on behalf of all Bitcoiners by processing transactions into blocks and maintaining the digital security wall.
When you have #BTC in Cold Storage you are growing Bitcoin's role as a neutral global Store of Value (SOV).
Even if you lose or purposely "burn" your private keys, you are making the rest of the #BTC supply more valuable.
When you use Lightning for payments, you are growing Bitcoin's role as a neutral global Medium of Exchange (MOE).
When you accept payment for products and services in #SATS, you are growing Bitcoin's role as a neutral global Unit of Account (UOA).
When you send and receive #Zaps on #Nostr, you grow the #V4V (Value for Value) economy on decentralized Social Media.
A global Bitcoin Standard is the opportunity to finally align the individual's incentives with what's good for humanity.
