It took 3 pours from a flip top bottle to fill the glass. It was explosively carbonated.

It's been proliferating for a while. I've never seen it eat large tracts of land. To the extent that it does, it's a tall herbaceous plant, so it's early on the succession hierarchy. If it ate an abandoned field it would likely be joined by shrubs and trees in a short number of years and then be shaded out by them within a decade or 2.

That seems to be the way of most "invasives." They are the early colonizers of degraded ecosystems and they give way to successive species (often native) pretty readily, having done work to revitalize the soil in the mean time.

Just saw on the TV that one of the local-ish governments is having a program to help old farmers sign up for "nutrition assistance." Yep, those folks who "grow food" can't feed themselves and need food stamps to afford groceries.

That's a sad commentary on the state of agriculture in the US. I'm sure there will be no societal consequences.

People of the eastern hemisphere: How's Monday pan out? Should I have stayed home?

I only read one, definitely not perfect, but good for starting out with ideas.

Did you remember to put the cheese on while the meat was still raw?

Restoring the water and carbon cycles is infinitely more important than cutting carbon emissions in terms of human and planetary flourishing.

Also, general pollution is far worse than greenhouse gas generation

My boys (4 and 3) earned their first dollars yesterday helping our landlord cut scraggly trees out of a chain link fence. 4 used loppers and he and 3 stacked the branches.

We recently got some earning/saving themed children's books and I think this reinforced the concept of earning by providing value. I'm excited to help them learn these lessons.

I'm pal-ing around at home with my 3yo this morning while my wife is doing a sourdough demo. I just heard him counting to 50 in another room. His big brother (4) has really taken to counting lately, his top number was 120. It's fun to watch them latch on to concepts. #parenting #grownostr #proudpapa
