I'm not even against it, it will just take some time to make it performant. Damus only connects to a set of relays you trust/vet and does not connect to random relays. It is not an unreasonable tradeoff in those settings and the perf/battery life gain is noticeable. I had it on originally until the perf hit was too bad to justify when the servers are already validating sigs. People should PR this if they think its a huge issue, I do not at this time but obviously this will not be true forever.

Should it be a NIP and work on the protocol level, or should clients allow users to create lists by generating multiple nPubs tgat each follow a defined list of accounts?

Still don't get it: do nostr relays actually act as clients to other relays? Do they try to fetch data from other relays if they don't find anything locally?

I truly believe bitcoin twitter is severly shadow banned and suppressed. Its very difficult just to get a post viewed. Even with 12k followers at twitter, people rarely seen my posts since reinstatement, and said they haven't seen me in forever. 🤡🐦

The vibes at nostr is way more engaging and people actually get their posts read as its all chronological and organic.

Not a priority, but I’d love to have Nostr client give us multiple follow lists.

Close friends, work, devs, bitcoin, etc… going to need some curation. Specially for DMs. Easy to get things lost in spam and noise.

Without a nip, it could be done at Damus level, by persisting the pinned info by the app. But if the user logs out/ uninstalls the app, this information will be erased out.

Use NIP-51 for this please, so they are interoperable across all clients.

Most important thing IMO for that audience:

1. Nostr is not a blockchain and has no native token. Many apps are integrating with lightning though.

2. Nostr has relays which are very different than bitcoin nodes. They operate as singular entities that track everything their asked to. No gossiping between them. Totally different topology from bitcoin.

3. Most applications look Twitter-like currently, but it’s an extremely generic protocol. Could support code repositories, private messaging (maybe), long form publishing etc…use cases in the future with other app development.

My Twitter experience last couple of months:

- Twitter blocks and unfollows ~200 of my followers daily

- Twitter shadow banned me: my tweets are not send to 80% of followers, notifications do not work for 80%, I do not show up in search (by non-followers), I do not show up in "for you" TL)

- Twitter allows 89 planb impersonators to use my icon & background, to (only) retweet all my tweets, and to dm and reply people to scam them / steal their btc

- Twitter allows hundreds of spam bots to polute all my tweets with the exact same message. Annoying for you, but for me it means I can nor read replies anymore, thus I can not communicate / discuss with you anymore (ddos effectively)

Needless to say I am done with Twitter and will be spending more time on nostr and making yt videos.
