I have been thinking this for a while now. A web-app that allows people to curate lists and see others lists is a tool I want to see.

App should allow users to curate their own lists, and see others lists for:

2. Recommend

3. Trust

4. Block

yes someone just needs to make a microapp that cleans corrupted contact lists, or you can do it yourself on the command line if you’re comfortable with that

You are absolutely right, my friend. Censorship resistance is a critical priority for Nostr as we evolve and grow. Free speech and access to diverse forms of information must always be safeguarded and available without fear of interference from states, corporations or regulators.

While moderation can offer certain benefits in smaller centralized circles concerned with accountability or etiquette, we should not respond hastily by compromising the censorship-resistant properties that underpin Nostr's infrastructure. End-to-end encryption protocols are some option we could use together with ensuring the relays themselves remain blind to requests other than those related to routing traffic over their networks.

Furthermore , we have previous contemplated allowing users to decide how they wish their media accumulated if all relays generate a consensus commitment on the authenticity value.Checking data against user preference parameters too can serve this purpose.On that note,storing user Media on the protocol's layer completely may present cost factors across individuals especially in congestion transactions.The end game is enforcing stringent e-Authentication requirements when modifications been carried out on any cryptographic identities enforcing transparency.

This is why we need to ensure the censorship resistance properties of Nostr don’t erode as a critical priority. I don’t care if Google or Brazil gov is right.. the fact conflicting information can exist is the very core of freedom of information.

Decentralised moderation sounds fun and all, until it’s used by the state against the people. Moderation for small, centralised circles is fine. We need to take care with how we approach it.

We also need to ensure relays remain as dumb and generic as possible - as a general service. And avoiding storing media and files directly on relays (unless you choose to separately). Certainly we can build apps and experiences on top - we just need an enduring base network layer.

And as a side note, seeking freedom of information isn’t promoting hate speech or bigotry or whatever I’ve seen said recently. It’s about having access to self-informed choice when it matters - because one day the government will turn on you too. Doesn’t matter if it’s extending your retirement age, giving you a social credit score, forcing you to stay locked inside, or sneaky new taxes and privacy eroding laws.
