I think PGP and asymmetric encryption is nice. (Also not too deep in cryptography)

My main problem with PGP is it requires a keypair from the receiving side. It is not a big deal, though how do you start a communication with a partner who has no keypair? It seems easier to send them a password on a different channel. Then to get them setup PGP on their side....

True that doing it via PGP would be more secure as in theory, only they have their private key.

What do I miss?

Also we might have different views on what "does not support" mean. Even a notepad supports encryption, I can just write the encrypted text in it. What I meant with not supporting is, I would have to use a separate extension to encrypt my gmail emails e.g. I could send them. Gmail could not read them, but I need extra steps to use it. This is what "does not support" mean to me.

Context: mainly you can't make sure how the reciever's email server handle your sent emails. It might support pgp or might not.

So your best guess can be to password protect the email content, and send the password on a different channel. Or you are fully restricted to send to users of known email servers.

Why is still #email the official communication channel if it is purportedly unsecure?

Don't send personal or secret information over email! If you need to send it, send it encrypted!

If a low-followed account makes a brilliant post, what shall happen?

What is a brilliant post?

Does one good post have to make you popular?

Is making one good post enough to prove effort, or it can be also a coincidence?

I think this can be a good constructuve discussion to get in if we want to move forward.

Could you give a bit more context please?

Life is short, so make this day count! πŸ€™

I don't use any software-services or subscription based services other than a couple tv/movie streaming services... and even them, the trash that they keep churning out, I'm tempted to dump. i do have a sub for encrypted email but I could just as well do that myself but I don't feel like it. (i did that for a living, so at 55 years old... no thanks LOL but even that, I am open to changing my mind on.)

If I need something I get it. I'm not waiting for anything. And, I don't really like "free" as in no-cost anyway because I think people deserve to be paid for their work. Free as in free from corporations and tracking == yes. I'm paying for the nostr.wine filter relay because I find it to be worth what they are charging (personally).

I have been listening to somafm.com since the early 2000s and I have a sub there because they have music that I like to stream and I want to support them because they are not inserting corporate advertising or censoring. I also sometimes buy their t-shirts and things. They have server costs.

"free" as in no cost is a fallacy and it really means #advertising #generalpublic #censorship #datascraping because nothing in this world is free of cost. We either trade our time, goods or money for other people's time, goods or money or we are subjected to the hashtags I listed.

so, there isn't a magic formula really IMO. there's just what I as a human want to support, what I absolutely won't and what I'll bend a bit for.

Roll with the punches, go with the flow, the world is constantly morphing and I am as well.

Thanks for the detailed answer! πŸ«‚ I like this attitude! πŸ’œ
