The 10minutemail is problematic in a sense, that you can lost access to the emails? Or you have to store a link to access them?

With simple login, it is possible. You just delete after use.

There maybe the distinction of the aliases could be problematic in your email tool? Not impossible, but not that convenient.

I think you can delete a gmail account either, then the gmail address would be deleted. (Or who knows how they handle it, you definitely won't be able to read the messages.)

How about disposable email address?

It is like a one-use alias. You use it for communication with 1 party, and 1 party only, and then delete it afterwards, when communication is over.

This way, you make profiling harder for parties who use email addresses to collect personal data.

I started to work on an email alias service powered by nostr.

I stucked a bit, because I started to try to solve all privacy problems I see.

But if I can find 1 thing in which I can make this better then other alias services on market, it worth already to roll it out. Also users shall think the same.

What is the benefit of it over e.g.: SimpleLogin?

1️⃣ You don't need an email address to use it.

2️⃣ Service does not know which alias belongs to whom.

3️⃣ Easier to send email from alias.

4️⃣ Emails are stored on user defined servers (relays)

(5️⃣ Uses nostr as login)

Common features

1️⃣ Emails are stored encrypted.

2️⃣ Senders won't know your identity.

3️⃣ Open-source/self-hostable

The feature I want, that seems pretty hard to achieve is, that the service has no access to the content of your emails.

Can docker be considered as a way to safely prove that a certain code is executed for him without him owning the full virtual machine?

Or is there a way, without creating separate virtual machines for each user, that the user can make sure what is the exact code, that is executed?

What is email privacy?

Email is generally not a private service, because by default, emails are sent in plain text, not encrypted, therefore, not only you and the recepient, but the email provider of both sides can read the content. Also all read content could be used for profiling.

The main problem is, that you can be target of this, even if you have a private mail provider.

How?

When someone sends you an email, their email provider can connect the content to your email address. If other of their users will send email to you, they can also use them.

So if you want to opt out, it is not enough, to use a private email provider.

Also you shall know, that if someone sends you an unencrypted email, even if your provider says, they encrypt your emails, they will have a time window when they still can profile or read your email content.

So you shall be okay with the possibility, that they can read all your emails.
