Yeah the thing I disagree with that you are saying just there is “the algorithm had nothing to do with it” bc it most certainly did. The algorithms create outrage-farming for views on all the platforms.

Without the algorithm, JK Rowling’s tweets wouldn’t have even made it over to people who didn’t follow her. When celebs (in this case blue checks) are given priority / promoted, people who want attention will try to leverage the celeb posts more via replying, trolling, etc. It’s why verification status should only be used as a measure of trust, not a special treatment.
I was on Twitter from the beginning, and the platform had its faults, like any platform, but introducing the algorithm in 2016-2017 was a big mistake on Jack’s part (probably forced by govt pressure to counter “Russiagate”) and then pay-to-play verification was a huge mistake on Elon’s part (probably ignorance lol).
This is why I went a little off the rails when Musk made the Twitter grab (see Medium articles for receipts). People told me: “Twitter isn’t that important. It’s just a website.”
My original conclusion was: we should crowdfund a buyback and make it a DAO. Lol.
