Personally I do this outside on the flat with a pressure washer and squidgy thing - then air dry on a line - turning frequently to avoid a crease.

Washing machine made rug is different than handmade rug. If nostr:nprofile1qqs802clq7p9qt738c954qlyy4y6jnusgyf962h8yuhncmt0h48p5fghlz62u live in Germany or US I can introduce specialist rug company to do it.
