Does your last sentence imply that all content will have a pay wall to access or it is creator configurable? Or something else.
Happy to hear you like the idea! 🙌🏻🍻 Just a follow up note. The gamification features mentioned (achievements, rewards, venue discovery) require careful balance between public visibility and user privacy. While you can implement basic public anonymous achievements now, meaningful social features need Nostr's upcoming trust circle protocol to:
Let users share specific venue visits with trusted friends only
Enable private recommendations within friend groups
Create meaningful social engagement without exposing user patterns
Balance public badges/achievements with private transaction data
Recommendation: Start with anonymous public achievements, but design your architecture to easily integrate trust circle features once the Nostr protocol adds these capabilities. This ensures you protect user privacy while building toward fuller social features.
Current scope: Anonymous public achievements
Future scope: Rich social features within trust circles
All signal, no noise. Love it 🙏🏻

The latest release of our Android app has just dropped!
v0.8.0 brings:
- Show place comments
- Hide ATMs by default
- Show places offering delivery
GitHub link below or in your favorite app store now. nostr:npub10r8xl2njyepcw2zwv3a6dyufj4e4ajx86hz6v4ehu4gnpupxxp7stjt2p8.
We have temporarily lost dark tile support as we migrate to a self-sovereign vector tile setup. Dark tiles will hopefully back in the next release!
We have also migrate to a RPC-based API on the BTC Map server, which makes things more efficient and performant all round.
Igor did most of the heavy lifting on all of this and so props to him. 💪
And as a reminder, we are entirely volunteer powered. And so if you like using our service, consider getting involved or donating!

An idea I’ve been reflecting on:
BTCMaps: The Geographic Interface for Nostr
Vision:
Position BTCMaps as the primary geographic visualization layer for Nostr's decentralized social network, combining privacy-preserving engagement tracking with gamification opportunities.
Key Components:
Map Nodes: Store locations tagged with Nostr public keys
Visit Verification: Local proof signing using client and vendor keys
Privacy-First Framework:
All sensitive operations happen on user devices
Local storage of visit history and achievements
Users control what data to share publicly
Gamification Engine:
Achievement tracking without compromising privacy
Verifiable visit proofs for rewards/badges
Community engagement incentives
Strategic Value:
Establishes BTCMaps as the standard for geographic Nostr data
Creates engaging user experience through gamification
Maintains user privacy while enabling social features
Provides businesses with opt-in engagement metrics
Sound interesting?
Throw back to the time when the CPP banned nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 on the grounds of “enabling public opinions, capable of social mobilization”. Damn right it does.

My understanding is that there are no other expense items they could possibly cut to make a dent in these two. The options are to fall on their obligations to pay these two, or inflate to pay them. I’ve heard senators suggest possibilities of improving American health to reduce the need for Medicare, etc as possible solutions but unlikely to be accomplished.
I often wonder, what is it about WhatsApp that's so sticky? Signal is a clone in practically every way, yet it can't seem to replace it. Is it really just the blue color? The hassle of creating a new collection of GIFs to send to friends that you already have in WhatsApp? Or is it the network effect causing habituation?
It seems that people are willing to trade off their concerns about privacy and centralized control for the minor convenience of using a single app. This is paradoxical, as many of these same individuals frequently complain about the controlling powers of Meta. Despite their concerns, they prioritize convenience over taking a stand for their values.
One possible explanation is that our brains struggle to connect with the consequences of our actions when they're abstract and invisible. The negative effects of surveillance capitalism, data exploitation, and online manipulation are often imperceptible, yet profound. They unfold in the shadows, making it difficult for us to emotionally grasp their impact.
Perhaps this is a result of our genetic makeup, which hasn't had time to adapt to the complexities of the digital age. Our brains are wired to respond to immediate, tangible threats, not the slow-burning, invisible risks that come with modern technology. As a result, we downplay the significance of these threats, prioritizing short-term convenience over long-term security and autonomy.
In essence, our brains are ill-equipped to handle the nuances of the digital world, leading us to perpetuate the very systems we claim to oppose. We're caught in a cycle of convenience and complacency, unable to fully grasp the consequences of our actions.

The #L402 protocol marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the internet by enabling native money transfers that move with the same fluidity and ease as data.
Much like how Open Graph allows YouTube videos to be viewed from various platforms, L402 enables content creators to serve and monetize their work across any application. A perfect example is Blockbuster videos, where L402 URIs can be loaded by any compatible client, allowing creators to get paid regardless of where their content is consumed.
With #Bitcoin, we no longer need to mimic the traditional fiat rails, where moving money is slow, costly, and often restricted by borders. The L402 protocol opens up a world of possibilities that go beyond merely improving existing financial systems.
If you want to see what the future feels like:
1) Go to https://videos.l402.org
2) Paste this l402 URI: l402://blockbuster.fewsats.com/video/info/1b2cbc8b52114734881e2bcffdf406c5
3) Enjoy!

I’m not sure early is the conclusion there. But crazy is 2-3 standard deviations away from the origin. Their origin comes from compliance and comfort.
Wow, I didn’t know it was deep fake resistant too. So promising a technology 😍
